  1. "... except for my weird foreign neighbor Sheila." Also, if Einstein was so smart, how did he get the i-before-e rule wrong *twice*?
  2. Oh, give me hits, lots of hits under starry skies above Don't call me out Let me run through the bases of the ballparks that I love Don't call me out Let me try for an extra base in the evenin' breeze And listen to the cheers of the crowd if you please Send me off to Rochester but I ask you please Don't call me out / tumbleweeds and such, you know
  3. Smile when you say that, pardner.
  4. "Deduno strikes out the side and leaves two men in scoring position." Pretty good summary of Deduno's style by our PBP guy.
  5. I'm no Deduno backer, but that was a pretty curveball for strike 3. (Immediately after a 59-footer.)
  6. I don't want any more high draft picks. Look what harm they are causing Houston.
  7. You have to take into account the level he is playing at. At AAA it would only be a 3-run shot, and in the majors a run-scoring double.
  8. Hey, don't forget the jinx I put on him. I called him mediocre.
  9. Ten days either way make no difference to me, especially if by using them it results in wise stewardship of the organization's resources. Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves; don't throw away marginal resources until you are sure there is no return at all on them.
  10. Absolutely. I'm not even sure a win today changes the forecast that they are now sellers at the deadline and it's time to bring some guys up. A win of the series would have prolonged the agony of "maybe we're still in this thing." I rarely root for losses but in this case I think the last two days were for the best. So, I can root for a miracle win today despite the worst starting pitcher in the league, with a clean conscience.
  11. Shut your festering gob, you tit. [video=youtube;kQFKtI6gn9Y]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQFKtI6gn9Y Oh, I'm sorry, this is Abuse.
  12. That's the key. Truly bad pitchers don't achieve enough innings. Correia's worst sin is being mediocre.
  13. The problem with repeating is that he's already on the 40-man so the options are a-burnin'. In two more years the Twins will have a decision to make, and I would think results at a higher level will be what they want to base it on. Assessment versus development is thus a dilemma.
  14. In fairness, a two-run lead in this day and age is pretty much insurmountable. I recommend MLB go to a system like used in many tournaments, and just end the game when one team establishes that level of domination. Otherwise, players will get hurt, as the losing team lashes out in shame over their predicament.
  15. Suzuki plus a top-25 guy (would be top 15-20 on most teams), for a top-10 guy?
  16. Parmelee was DFA'ed/waived this year and made it through. I think that means he could be sent down again (although not indefinitely many times, at some point he could refuse?).
  17. Here is the official word:
  18. Him and Zack Granite could be the Lynn and Rice of our era.
  19. I shall remember this one for the next time I am arrested. Sounds like an iron-clad alibi.
  20. Perhaps Parms should start swinging now, in case he faces McGee tomorrow.
  21. I hate when mlb.tv runs approximately 3 minutes behind the Real World.
  22. Mid-season '15 when Buck gets called up?
  23. You'd get a lot for your money.
