  1. I think that 40th man spot is ALL Brian Dozier's for the taking... IF it was May 19th and not April 19th I'd vote Dozier.....nicknamed "Bull".
  2. I was wondering the same thing>? IT was Wimmers turn last night, he did not pitch, nor is he scheduled tonight.... could we have another aOhh ohh on our hands? Please be 100% Healthy Alex!
  3. I agree 100% Parmelee may even need to go to New Britian for lack of 1B's south of Rochester. Parmelee needs to play everyday in a lower level.
  4. #5 thru 10 games is impressive i'm a little concerned about the relatively HIGH K % or K rate. But the More walks drawn (compared to last year) IS DEFINATELY an encouraging sign. #1 prospect on the Twins and top 25 in all of baseball no doubt.
  5. Hopefully waaay before 2013 Spring Training we'll have : FA , Blackburn, Swarzak, Hendriks, and Gibson..... with the possiblilty of Scott Baker being back... on a cheaper NEW DEAL. Capps, Burnett, Gutierrez (better pick it up), Perkins, Burton or Gray, Oliveros, Robertson.
  6. Bowden, yes the Twins i'm sure are putting a claim in....we'll see if a crappier team (few and far between record wise) Puts a claim on him before we do. THey'd get first rights..... Question is who you send to AAA if you're the Twins... ? Matt Maloney?
  7. Despite having the #2 overall pick this June. I think its important not to overlook the 6 picks in the top 100. Thats a LOT more picks than most teams, have 3 or 4 in the top 100. The Twins also, under the new CBA arrangement, have THE MOST alloted Money to spend on this years draft. So if there is any "unsignable" guys to take this year in the early rounds, The Twins are in Great postiion to do so. If there is a Josh Bell OFer in this years draft and falls to the 2nd or 3rd round, the Twins could take him and likely pay the neccesary money to sign him (whoever he is) that other teams likely couldn't come close to matching. Problem is this year's talent pool seems thinner than most of the last few years. My vote would be between Buxton, Zunino, Zimmer, and I guess Appel. I'll be really interested to see if they can get a Victor Roache or an Alberto Almora or David Dahl type of player in the supple. round.
  8. great podcast seth here's another little tidbit to add, from a guy with some knowledge at minorleagueball.com who caught a Peroria vs Beloit game the other day (Cubs - Twins A ball) http://timstradebait.webs.com/apps/blog/show/13919663-peoria-chiefs-6-beloit-snappers-2 -steve (shs)
  9. hey guys, also tonight 3B Miguel Sano of the Midwest LG (Beloit) went 0-1, with 3 Walks, YES 3 BB's and not one of them was intentional walk. GOOD for Sano. That is a great sign there, he actually has the same amount of walks as K's so far in this early season. Sano did have 1 Error while playing 3rd base however. GO Hicks GO GO Sano GO GO Rosario GO
  10. WELL SAID buddy well said, took the words out of my mouth. Trading Denard Span ? Please, he's a top 10 leadoff hitter in the game... and plays at least an average defensive CF... Joe Benson while a slight upgrade defensively is: A) Right handed Hitter, with many more K's and less productive AB's as Span this year in 2012 Not a leadoff hitter like Span C) Not the run-scorer/ base stealer at the top the lineup as SPan is when healthy.
  11. Mistake #1 Common misconception among some fans here I see. YOU TAKE THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE If Buxton is there at #2 you absolutely take him, he likely could develop into a Jason Heywaard like star, in the meantime if 1 or 2 of Hicks, Benson, Arcia, Morales and Kepler pan out you HAVE the option to deal Buxton for a Matt Garza (or Better) like young arm when the situation presents itself. with that said, everyones big board is different, Marcus Stroman RHP from Duke would be my #1 on my Board if he could grow just another 2 inches over night. my way too early prediction: Astros - Appel Twins - Zuzino or Buxton, maybe Zimmer Mariners - Zuzino or Buxton O's - -- Zimmer or Beck Royals - Zimmer or Guasman Cubs - Marcus Stroman Pirates - Carlos Correa or Devin Marrero
  12. Likely: Scott Diamond, Jeff Manship, Anthony Swarzak IT SUCKS because Swarzak could of been our BEST bullpen option outside of Perk. Unlikely: Alex Wimmers, Dave Bromberg, Bobby Lanigan Even more Unlikely: Roy Oswalt
  13. \ Wait, ChuckkJay you're kind of contradicting yourself there, SOoo you're saying you would have paid Mauer or you wouldn't have? You sound like , "If you were GM you'd like to think you would have let him walk" Meaning like Pujols, Fielder you would have let Mauer walk? Come on man, WE ALL know that wasn't a practicall option, EVEN if you predicted a massive setback and career lulls on the short-term horizon for Joe Mauer you STILL would have signed him if you were GM. (just hopefully maybe not at that steep a price)

    Remember To Breathe

    (4) Four games in, and not the start we all envisioned to be sure. (5) Five letters for us all to consider R-E-L-A-X I just hope the Twins, particularly the coaches and the players can just take a deeeeep breath relax, stay calm, not panick and just play baseball. Getting 1 out of these next 2 against the Angels would be a great start and if they just play ball they can do that. Next is the Texas Rangers, after stud southpaw Matt Harrison in game 1, Neftali Feliz and Yu Darvish go in the next 2 games, if you ask me thats a winnable series right there, especially at Home in Target Field. The Hapless Helpless Mariners offense just about Imploded Darvish the other day in his big lg. debut, of course Ichiro had something to do with that. I think many of us Twins fans, myself included just need to remember its a loooong season and in this rutt to start the year we're far far from the butt of jokes this early. Breathe. Exhale. And repeat. Thank you all.

  16. Great to see Adrian Salcedo, Alex Wimmers, and Jason Wheeler all get out there and toss some solid outings. I was a little worried there for a bit with Wimmers in the contol department, ended up with 3 BB's and 4 K's ? so theres room for improvement but he did a solid job for first EVER Eastern League start. Lots of hitters crushed the ball on Monday, including Brian Dozier, Miguel Sano, Levi Michael, Daniel Santana, Eddie Rosario to name just a few.
  17. I'm 99% with Chuckle Jay here, I felt strongly at the time of the contract it was an overpay due to him just coming off a career year. Did i think 2009 was going to be his career year? NO. But I felt strongly as if it was going to be in his top 2 or 3 season of his career (which looks absolutely true today) Giving a guy a contract RIGHT after they have a HUGE breakout year is always tough for the team, but usually turn out to be decent for both sides. And in Mauer's case its not like he was a schulb before 2009. He was a very good player from 2004-to 2008. Healthy always? No. Productive always? Yes. 28 HR power potential Always? No. I'm a big PRO Mauer guy and think he'll bounce back big if not in 2012, then in 2013 but will he ever be worth 23 Million dollars a season Strictly on the Field again? I think not at this point....but the value he as to this team and Twins territory is invaluable. As you can probably see I felt he was worth apprx. 20 Million a year (or so) And not 23 Million. But no one can put a price on just how much the Mauer Deal WITH the TWINS means to the state of Minnesota, the fans, and the MLB and baseball as a whole. Was Ryan Howard worth 25 Million a year? NO was Joey Votto Deserving of the mega deal he just got? Absolutely Not. (if he wasn't a exclusively 1B , and coming off recent depression issues than maybe)
  18. Miguel Sano just went 2-3 , 2 BB's and 2 HR's!! He now has 3 hits and all of them are homers on the year with 9 RBI's.... funny Small sample size stat. Mine: 1. Miguel Sano 2. AAron Hicks 3. Eddie Rosario 4. Oswaldo Arcia 5. Joe Benson 6. Liam Hendriks 7. Levi Michael 8. Kyle Gibson 9. Brian Dozier 10. Chris Herrmann 11. Alex Wimmers 12. Hudson Boyd 13. Chris Parmelee 14. Travis Harrison 15. Madison Boer 16. Max Kepler -R 17. Adrian Salcedo 18. Tom Stuiffbergen 19. Niko Goodrum 20. JaDamion Williams --- Honorable Mention : - Carlos Gutierrez, Lester Oliveros, BJ Hermsen, Pat Dean, Corey Williams, Manuel Solliman.
  19. well, on the bright side..... A Ball 3B prospect Miguel Sano went 2-3 , with 2 BB's and 2 HRS !!! he now has 3 hits and 3 Hr's to start the year, tallying 9 RBI's. !!! YAE
  20. I don't think Yangarvis Solarte (tex) , or Dan Osterbrock and a few others are in the organizatoin anymore. mine: C- Chris Herrmann 1B- Matt Rizzioti (AA from Phills last year) 2B- Levi Michael 3B- Deibinson Romero SS- Brian Dozier OF- Aaron Hicks OF- Oswaldo Arcia OF- Nathan Roberts RHP - Adrian Salcedo RHP - Bobby Lanigan RHP - David Bromberg LHP - Tyler Robertson LHP - Corey Williams LHP - Pat Dean *almost went with Eddie Rosario at 2B or OF, and Niko Goodum if 4 years was an option.
  21. Solidly Seth Speaks Softly but Seriously lol i'm a fan of alliteration but in all seriously i'm with baseball pirate and agree with the above.
  22. Osterbrock topped out at what 85-87 MPH on a good day? so unless he spent an entire off-season be-friending and working out with Jamie Moyer, Livan Hernandez he wasn't going to amount to anything. Blayne Weller was my suprise just because of youth, what's he going to do know with no college? the former H.S. draft pick would have to catch on with somebody else i would think. but Yeah Holbrooks a little bit too, he probably deserved 1 more shot.
  23. Good to see the boys, play tough against the men. 8-7 Final score with the Twins edging them out. Interesting though how Kepler and Travis Harrison! each got AB's. Great game and we're OFFFFFFFFFFFF here we come opening day!
  24. Has anyone seen Rosario take a cutt recently? I think at times, his swing speed is crazy fast, like he's literally swinging out of his shoes.... I would bet money he swings harder/faster than Sano does. (i don't care for the crazy hard swings, hacks)
  25. Biggest suprises for me 1) Alex Wimmers in AA and not A+ Ft. Myers (at least for April) 2) Angel Morales and Aaron Hicks essentially swapping levels. I thought the Twins would play it safe/smart with Hicks let him get hott or tear it up in Ft. Myers then call him up sometime mid-season to AA New Britian. Instead they're starting him from the gun there that is really suprising to me. If he stuggles you hope he can pull a Joe Benson get sent down catch fire come back up to New Britian and continue to impress, develop while hitting for power. 3) Chris Parmelee and Liam Hendriks in the big leagues, Ok in Hendriks case he has to no other choice due to Baker/ Marquis situation. But For Parmelee entirely skipping the AAA level has be a bit worrisome but he's clearly earned it. 4)Lester Oliveros in AA and not AAA. 5) Darin Mastroianni in AA playing 2B !?!?!? instead of OF in AAA. - I can really get behind this one!!!
