  1. Well Nick TRUTHFULLY , i actually did , I was one of the few Twins fans that LOVED the Bullock for Diamond swap. anytime you can get a pitcher, southpaw as is, from the BRAVOS org. who throws stikes at THOSE rates, for a guy who ....while throws really hard , is a reliever who can't throw it over the plate. sure ARL in that case was a factor, but i thought the Twins scouts did a good - great job scalping a player, OBVIOUSLY, undervalued from an org. Who at the time PUMPED out pitching prospects ....Diamond from the scrapheap that while a little older was actually a hell of a prospect for a guy in Bullock who was COMPLETELY a suspect (he literally can not throw the baseball over the plate at all) *not saying he won't one day, but likely he'll never be an MLB factor.
  2. he's a valuable player and should be valued appropriately so, especially with the contract he is on. A GOOD ONE If he's at all traded this July, it should be for 2 TOP prospects and a 3rd young player. Like Allen Hanson, and Luis Heredia + Robbie Grossman. (I'd take Cole or Taillon though over Heredia, just don't think Pittsburgh will be willing) They have Appell too
  3. Agreed entirely well done. And to Gmarais66 or whoever responded to my first post. I was Not one of them clammoring for Dozier to be in the Big Leagues....I thought he should of Been in Rochester untill mid-season or even Late July anyways.
  4. Yes I realize these things, I guess I thought he was -0.5 or -1.0 To replacement level. But he's been hurt too you know. I'm not at all saying he's 100% healthy even right now. Its the Twins Fault , my original point, not HIS that we signed him to that deal. Ok? Just stop it already Its the Twins mistake the deal went down, not blackburns. He is what he is when healthy, a 4-5th starter.
  5. My DREAM scenerio: Since we know they're always awfully interested. Seattle Mariners No, they're not in contention this year. But that doesn't mean they won't want him, Michael Pineda is a Yank, and hurt. Nick Franklin their AA / AAA SS....... I'd take him and him alone for Liriano and, not Dozier, but maybe Casilla. Do it TR see if they'll bite? Terry Ryan & F.O. Need to explore many many options out there just like this one, they're phone lines should be put to use.
  6. Couldn't Agree More Yes once we're "Officially" out of the race . I'd LOVE LOVE to see Pedro Florimon up here, and Dozier playing in Meaningful games @ AAA Rochester. He needs more AAA time Before its Too Late! Lots of things to work on, and Defense isn't even one of them exactly.
  7. You're overreacting! woa dude stop, just please stop Anybody Even Tim Lincecum, can put up 2 1/2 months of ERA @ 7.50 + Its all about the context and the sample size. Blackburns career ERA (useless statistic that it is) is still less than 5.00 ........... Please stop it was not a Joke and just about ANY YEAR besides THIS Year and last, YES the Texas Rangers, would love to have had him in their 5th spot on opening day. I will say 5th starters are easily replacable they're replacement Level players &Orgs.Like ours and the Rangers can pump them out 2-3 times a season. But I think Blacky is also hurt or not at 100% health. He's taking the ball because we ALL KNOW there really is nobody to come up and take his spot for him.
  8. Ohh and do add i'm pretty sure at this point SS Jurickson Profar is all but untouchable... It'd take Burton or Perk or Duensing plus Willingham just to get 1 of Andrus or Profar + maybe a Grimm type back.
  9. Well, I think you guys are overreacting a touch. He is what he is. A perfectly capable 5th starter on a good baseball team. A Team like Texas , on an ave. year, would love to slot him in their 5th spot in that tiny Ballpark at Arlington. Or White Sox @ U.S. Cellular similar thing. A team like The Padres could use Blackburn because he won't give up the long ball there as much. Its not Blackburns fault the Twins, saw more in him, Thought more of him than what he actually is, The Twins Mistake #1 pay him like he's a #3 starter for the next few years Mistake #2 Lock him up as long as they did. Mistake #3 Expecting him to keep up the awesome #'s he did possess when he first broke in, despite having those Tiny K Rates, and Massively high Oppotents Batting Average. - HE did have excessively Low BB% rates. The Twins saw more in him than he really is, and I think the pressure has gotten to Blacky as he probably goes out there expecting to shut the other team down in some starts, which simply put ..... He cannot do time and time again. I think its clear Blackburns once mighty sinker or "moving" Fastball does not sink like it once did. He's a 5th starter now, (at one time maybe a #4 guy) and For some reason the Twins saw much more in him than a back end guy/ long reliever.
  10. Well, He's got a long LOOOng ways to go to even maintain the Control Blackburn has, Sure in 2-3 years time he may very well have BETTER "stuff" than Blackburn has but will he be able to... 1) pitch deep in games 2) Pitch the ball over the plate for strikes at Greater than a 55% clip. Easily 1 of those 2 could be a HUGE struggle for him.
  11. I was a huge proponent, John, as you may re-call for Niel Ramirez Back in Late April/ Early May. In my Twins possible Trade Targets post. But since then Ramirez has really struggled, I believe he is pitching hurt, he just got demoted to AA. And I'm glad the Twins did stay away from him, and Hopefully (at this point) continue to do so....because he's a mess right now. On the Other hand if the Rangers have soured on him it could be a GREAT time to bring him in on the Cheap, as sort of a filler to a Another Deal
  12. 1. THe Nationals - I love the Zimmerman and Zimmerman tanget...+ Harper, Ramos, Strasburg, Desmond, Espinosa and Lombardozi AND Gio GOnzalez that is a REALLY good baseball team. PLUS I predicted (looks correctly predicted) that the Nats would win the N.L. East. 2. The A's - Billy Beane is still a Twin at heart, and a really smart man....I like MOney ball and all that it inspires. 3. The Cubbies - Just because my unlce is a DIE HARD and i can't help but cheer for the lovable losers, they must come out of it....Epstien will help. I respect the Royals and Mets as well.....
  13. This may be a bit optimistic but i think Plouffe is a Right Handed Ben Zobrist for a comparable. Zobrist if you think about it, has essentially been one of the 3 or 4 most consistent Offensive Contributors on the Rays team over the last few seasons, and the Rays being SUPER succesfull. At this point, I feel like the Twins should gamble a bit and Choose: Mauer, Span, Revere, Plouffe, and hopefully 1 of Parmelee, Morneau to build around.....Along with Diamond, Hendriks, Baker, Gibson, Waldrop, Guerra, Duensing, Burnett. And EVERYTHING else should be prospects and the Twins should be to the point, (between this July, August trade deadlines and The Off-Season) of Having a DEEP AAA and AA Team along with solid A Ball squads.... The Twins should want to have the feeling like they could use another farm team. IMO ...and soon.
  14. I agree with John, i think its a bit flawed to think Willingham is much less likely to get traded this year than say any of the next 2 years at the Trade deadline. Willingham simply put, this year should amount to getting one of the following: 1. B+ / A- prospect 2. 2 B / B- prospects
  15. LHP Nick Kingham is another Pitts. option but he's struggling..... Other Ideas- S.F. Giants....... SP Michael Kickham.... or even Erik Surkamp (less likely)
  16. Between McPherson, Black, and Von Rosenburg.... I'd go McPherson, but likely None of that threesome is going to amount to anything more than a back-end starter or middle reliever And thats likely, IMO, BESt CASE scenerio. I'd strongly recommend targeting Heredia, but then again, the PIrates may have a higher fetch on him than Taillon at this point, and right there with Cole.
  17. Luis Heredia and Starling Marte (AAA OF prospect) would be my targets, they just drafted Appel though, so they may be willing to part with 1 of Cole or Taillon....for Willingham but we'd probably have to throw 1 of Perk or Burton at them also to bite. The Pirates have a SS in Allen Hanson (could be mispelling his name) in A Ball who is a VERY good and advanced hitter for his age, that will certainly rocket up the minor leagues in the next year or so.... He is a REAL Middle Infield prospect and I'd probably do Doumit or one of the relievers straight up for him. -they'd probably be more willing to part with Hanson or Hansen? than Marte.
  18. No, absolutely not same level of rookie ball Gulf Coast is for 17-19 year olds....E Town is for 19-21 year olds. IMO but Appy Lg. is much much tougher competition despite easy hitting environments.
  19. Throw Buxton in there by seasons end hopefully (maybe he out-hitts everyone in GCL and gets a late July/ August promotion) That is one sick linuep, and should be a team, yet again, contending for the Appy Lg. Title!
  20. John, great thread I LOVE you're mention of Zach Cozart, though i'm not sure the Reds would be willing to part with him. In general though, i think Denard Span should not be traded at all. He and Mauer are my 2 guys to build around, along with Dozier, Gibson, Diamond, Burton, Duensing, Perk, and hopefully Revere, Plouffe. but of all those names Span and Mauer have to be at the top 1.B and 1 . A ......right? If we're going to trade him we have to get a HUGE haul something like the Nats already gave up to get Gio Gonzalez. (not quite that massive but close)
  21. I agree he's an OF'er all the way, if something major happens, big set back than maybe he can go Rick Ankiel on us... (opposite way) but thats doubtfull... Span in RF and Hicks in CF in late 2013 sounds great to me, even if Hicks ' ends up being spans = as a hitter with a little less contact and a twitch more power.
  22. IMO Span will be with the Twins longer than Joe Mauer will.
  23. At the Very least he ALREADY >>> than Billy Bullock I was one of the VERY Few that APPLAUDED the Diamond for BUllock trade at the time, after the Rule 5 thing went to hell. I liked Diamond, knew he was older, but LHP that Twins scouts were very keen on "he could pitch for us real soon" .... I knew he was > than WALK or BB machine Billy Bullock (enter James Hoey ish) I'm one of the smartest twins fans on the web. thank you thank you.
  24. wow....pretty good job I like this list a lot. I wish i was as high on Boer as Seth, but unfortunately i am not. And Pedro Florimon at #20 suprised me a bit, does he deserve or fitt in a top 50? Yeah definately but in a top 20-25? i don't know. I don't see it.
  25. I'd DFA Gray, Demote Alex Burnett, Demote Brian Dozier to AAA. I'd Call up Anthony Slama, and Sean Burroughs. I'd also find a SS to rotate in with Carroll for starting time. (not Florimon at least i don't think) (Dozier needs AAA Time) - I'd trade A+ OF Oswaldo Arcia and AAA LHRP Tyler Robertson to the Texas Rangers for AAA SP Neil Ramirez. I'd insert Ramirez into the rotation. --- I'd draft Byron Buxton or Carlos Correa with pick #2 next week. with either 32 or 42 i'd take Minny prepster Mitch Brown RHP. and I'd hope to get Pat Light, J.O. Berrios, or Michael Nay or even Walker Weickel or Michael Wacha with the other pick.
