  1. Do you mean after the walk? I was booing the Umpire for not calling it a strike, not sure about the rest of the crowd. There were a couple close pitches (from my vantage point in the second deck) in that at bat and throughout the inning that I felt the umpire did not give Perk that he had called a strike earlier in the game for both sides. I didn't think anyone was booing Perk, at least that's what it felt like to me...
  2. Really hope the Yankees, Dodgers, Blue Jays - somebody, anybody - offers a prospect for Willingham so the Twins can get a player back for him. That being said, I would hold out for more than the Morales trade. Hammer has put up good numbers (not including the Batting Average) this year when he's been healthy. He's valuable to the Twins' lineup, so he should be valuable someone else's lineup too.
  3. The Twins have lots of SS/CF'ers already. Too bad Castillo isn't a C/RF, they've only got one of those...
  4. How will we know if Polanco is ready for AA competition if he keeps being called up to the Twins?
  5. Pressly was not bad last night, so they've got that going for them, which is nice.
  6. Oh, I agree that Kepler is pretty far away. The "or 2016" in my post was for Kepler, and even that is probably optimistic - the point I was making was that of the guys currently on the 40 Man, Polanco was the best suited to come up and sit on the bench until Mauer is reactivated.
  7. I think the other hitters all have very specific jobs to do - Polanco is in the right place at the right time. Pinto (I hope) will be up once Suzuki is traded, but he's going to be catching everyday somewhere, that's what the Twins want him to be doing. Vargas, Kepler will be up in 2015 or 2016, they're not ready yet. Florimon - NOPE Herrmann will be fine where he is, probably will take Pinto's spot in AAA. Who am I forgetting?
  8. I think this addition puts more pressure on Pressly to be good - He'll potentially suffer the same fate as Guerrier if he has a bad outing or two.
  9. Polanco doesn't really seem to fit, but they weren't about to sit Pinto on the bench, and Vargas is still a little green to be taking Kendrys Morales' DH spot. This gives Parmelee, Willingham, and Colabello more chances to hit without fielding. Polanco is better than a pitcher being called up . . .
  10. So, in this case, does it seem like the Twins called Seattle offering Morales or did Seattle say 'how many AAA relievers fo you want for Morales'? I hope it is the latter.
  11. Oh, does Pryor take up a 40 Man spot?
  12. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/mariners-acquire-kendrys-morales.html
  13. Not really a prospect but I guess Morales wasn't really hitting that much for us (yet), I guess getting a player in a trade for a free agent isn't the worst thing ever... http://www.scoutingbook.com/players/p3221
  14. I have a feeling that the Twins will not be bad enough this year to climb this leaderboard much. If you take away Correia, Willingham, and Morales, how many more games will the Twins lose than if they kept them? I think Suzuki being traded could be the only potential change that would cause the Twins to lose games on par with these other teams. I feel like this is a good thing. The Twins are not so terrible this year.
  15. I like the idea of the DH having to wear an elaborate costume - like the "gold ball" at the end of each HR Derby Round.
  16. Yeah- trades of these picks are not all that likely. It does represent an opportunity, though, for a team to get a closer to "sure thing" if they trade a comp pick for a player with a proven track record. For a team that needs a specifc guy, it can be useful to trade a pick away that will be of great value to another team.
  17. While I think this is not a surprising move, I'm still (pleasantly) surprised that the Twins actually did it. Some strategy seems to be peeking out from the vault of the Twins' Front Office. They had Guerrier up to dangle him as trade bait, and when he lost what little trade value he may have had, the Twins DFA'd him. It seems in retrospect that this wasn't just a "get the band back together" move. Freeing that 40 Man Spot is great great news. I hope the Twins keep it open for Meyer!
  18. For Suzuki, I would hold out for more than a draft pick since the draft is so unpredicable. Prospects are volatile enough commodities on their own. I would ask for the pick + a player for Suzuki because his value to a team is higher and his skills are harder to replace than Willingham's are.
  19. The Marlins dumped theirs this past year to get a relief pitcher. It's still a pretty new concept in baseball to trade a draft pick, it would depend on what the team trading the pick away was trying to accomplish.
  20. Nice! You're next, Pale Hose!
  21. Close one there - Duensing shut the door!
  22. Like Willingham to the Reds or Mariners for their pick? Suzuki to the Cardinals or the Orioles for their pick and (I would hope) another player? Would these teams value those potential 2nd round draft choices over an upgrade this year?
  23. It's nice that teams have the option to trade that pick. My guess is the Twins will be keeping theirs..
  24. Great to see Santana busting out of that slump!
  25. Twins got a Competitive balance pick (4th pick between round 2 and 3) http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/2015-competitive-balance-lottery-results.html
