  1. As bad as he was locating his fb today, Hughes could have easily made the play on the hit bag single, and on the gb to Valencia, the guy was out at 1st. So, the fatman was a little bit unlucky, and he did close it, just barely.
  2. Nice comebacks, good play by Valencia at the end, keep it up.
  3. 10-9, bend but not break, I'll take it. Good to see M & M Hrs. And, Burnett good again.
  4. No false hopes for this team. The rotation and pen, excepting Perkins, is bottom of the barrel. Is he gonna continue batting Carroll 2nd until he wises up and brings up Dozier? I'd bet on it. It's a very bad team, maybe worse than last years.
  5. Parmalee looks lost. Make the change.
  6. Just saw 'em lose the opener on TV to go 0-4 (live in L.A) Think it's gonna be a 100+ loss season. They don't have anywhere near the offense to overtake a pitching staff that's going to let up at least 5 runs every game. 6 runs in 4 games, no rallies, shoddy defense. And, even if they get a lead, it'd be a miracle if Caps isn't terrible. Had a little optimism pre-season like a lot of us, but, now, my mantra will remain - fire Gardenhire.
  7. Given what they have, he's fine. And, determination counts. Never knocked him, like the speed. It's the Jamey Carroll move I'm already sick of.
  8. Did express these sentiments before Friday. Hollering about jettisoning him to Pluto last year on some other blog. And, the year before that. Ownership is just alienating the fan base by keeping him on.
  9. They need some kind of different mindset, an emotional lift of some kind. They won't get it with Gardenhire in the dugout. The playoff debacles point to a guy unable to get his players mentally prepared. Confidence is everything, and he doesn't inspire it. I've never understood what anybody saw in this guy. What is it - that he looks like Festus from "Gunsmoke" and somehow that's charming? Only a stubborn stuck in his ways imbecile would bat Jamey Carroll second. It's just a gross insult to the fans to keep this tic around.
  10. Tito brings two world championships to Boston and is fired. Gardenhire's Twins are playoff embarrassments year after year after year, and then last year. He gets rid of Papi, Garza, and Hardy. What - does he have lewd pictures of the Pohlads with kids? How has Tom Kelly remained silent all these years? It makes no sense.
  11. Correct. They got lucky. Last year their luck ran out. This off-season to address the pitching woes they re-signed Capps and got Marquis. Now, you're playing with bad loaded dice. It's gonna be craps you lose, and snake eyes every time.
  12. How 'bout that Jamey Carroll? A regular Honus Wagner. Hardy looked good again, though. Glad about Morneau hitting, but, this is a team that's counting on Luke Hughes to deliver big in the clutch. 59-103 if they catch some breaks.
  13. Be real nice to see them get rid of him, now, after this stirring nearly no-hit loss. Whatever managerial intangibles spur players on - he lost a long time ago. He should have gotten the ax six years ago. He's a very stupid man, and if they do start off 0-10 - the pressure will build and all the Gardy antics in the world won't save him. They need new blood at the helm, and in the front office. It's gotta happen, or the franchise will lose its value appreciably.
  14. Right. They need someone with an ounce of humility, not a proven loser. Is there anything more telling than the Papi situation? Then, Garza, then Hardy? For what? Nishi? Carrol? Whatever usefulness "The Gardenhire Way" had after that blew up in the team's face like an IED. He loved Punto, Butera, there's something wrong with the guy - maybe he can start a softball team in Italy. Yeah, it's two games, but with 16 of the 18 innings being zeroes. Okay, the pitching staff is horrible, but keep him around and a team destined to lose will lose like a clueless zombie army. He's the worst problem of them all.
  15. This is right. The guy (Gardy) is a proven loser. Papi by himself is a firing offense. I mean, is there anything more that you need than that ? He loved Punto, Butera - just move to Italy, Gardy, and you can find lots more just like 'em. A new manager with a little humility, some openness, not this slovenly hedgehog anymore.
  16. Even from just mlb.com computer simulation you can tell this team is devoid of life. I'm hoping they'll go 0-10 just so it may put Gardenhire on the bubble. The team is just perfectly awful. The blend of personalities is just awful. Willingham's a stiff, Carroll just seems listless, Valencia's head isn't in the game...this will be a terrible team for years, and years. "The Twins Way" chased off Big Papi, Garza, and so on. It's dull, wretched, whitebread baseball, and it's a grotesque insult to every Twins fan.
  17. Gardenhire's the problem. Lacklustre play again today down big again. They're likely to be worse than last season if they keep him on. He's overstayed his welcome. The team looks like ghosts playing for him.
  18. This sounds like a repeat of last year with Mauer, i.e. the utter incompetence of the Twins trainers and medical staff. Yet, as far as I know - no one was fired in the off-season. Just a very bad sign of things to come. Hope I'm wrong, but...
  19. Carroll in place of Nishi at SS is a for real upgrade. Physically and mentally.
  20. Like Lexi, would really like to see him be terrific this year. It could spark the team in very surprising ways.
  21. Perkins replaces Capps as the closer in May. Morneau, Mauer, and Liriano have very good years. Willingham delivers. Valencia has good year. Overall relief pitching terrible. Casilla has good year. Every other starter except Scott Baker is lousy. Team goes 76-86.
  22. Likely this is accurate. Who knows? But, keeping Capps was just a terrible decision. Is there a worse closer in the game? I think he's worse than Ron Davis, the worst so-called closer in Twins history, i.e. a closer who can not close. Can't see them having anything but a losing season with him on-board.
  23. Like to see him go. That abysmal 20-65 record against the Yanks, and the woeful playoff success with very talented teams is just too much. Tom Kelly, bless his hard heart could manage. Gardenhire can't.
