  1. good time to examine Nate's 2 Beloit seasons as he has 68 gms played each of last 2 yrs. 2011 222ABs .302/.443/.446 55runs 12doubles 4triples 4HR 34rbi 48k 28bb 29hbp 9/13sb's 2012 247ABs .304/.435/.441 52runs 16doubles 3triples 4HR 30rbi 29k 39bb 19hbp 24/31sb's Realize its injuries that have held him back but his 2 yr totals in BEL equal one injury free minor league season Low A totals 136gms 469ABs .303/.439/.443 107runs 28doubles 7triples 8HR 64rbi 77k 66bb 48hbp 33/44sb's these are some awesome numbers........
  2. disappointing finish for Derek after hamstring injury Upon return 17gm 10/58 .172/.238/.293 4runs 4doubles HR 6rbi 25k 5bb 2/2sb's Really not sure if you buy the first 13gms as his true shot or the last 17gms after a bad 2011 debut
  3. finished the GCL season today w/MN after deal 16gms 14/59 .237/.318/.322 8runs triple HR 3rbi 16k 6bb 9/11sb's bump him to ELIZ/Beloit for their playoff run???
  4. this is a fantastic idea that completely elluded me. Drew has been a very good, but not great SS and has blown his shot at his big money free agency with his broken ankle. I would definately look at him but I might even give him some decent money if he'd agree to a 2 yr deal. MN has never been an active front-line player in FA, even last yr. I dont expect it this winter either. Hope Im wrong, but I expect to get pitching from trades(Span/Justin....think they will keep Josh & I would also) & the proverbial scrap heap types again (Jermeny Guthrie/Joe Blanton)...its the Twins way. Do agree with the original post tho.....time for a change at manager/coaches. Gardy is good, but sometimes a new voice is needed (both players & fans). If Gardy (last yr of his deal this winter & would want an extension) wants to stay, this is the time for some coaching changes (can get a new voice that way also).

  6. Im in the arguement that there isnt either, but the organization believes it.....but then why not keep Rivera/Thomas/Ramirez types in AA if there isnt much difference (move em up & down accordingly for roster space). We've heard the same arguement from front office on Tosoni/Benson/Parmelee after 2 'full' AA yrs....they need AAA ABs. The organization coulda got them those at bats in their 2nd AA yrs, but chose NOT to. Same with Dozier last yr & Arcia this yr....they say these players 'need' the AAA ABs but dont give them to em after even dominating AA. Different if they did.
  7. Think you may be missing the arguement (if there even is one). It isnt the injuries themselves....KC proves its not alwasy the major league grind that results in TJ, pitchers are destined to get them......it's the diagnosis/rehab. If Zimmer needs TJ next April, now we have an arguement of medical misfires. If he gets this fixed & he's healthy, its also something to growl about (getting a good examination/taken care off) 20 yr old has been pretty impressive this year to those that want to argue we shoulda taken him (went 5th) 9gms 39.2IP 39h 2.04ERA 42k 8bb I am very happy with the Buxton pick myself. Like to see KC get its pitchers healthy & see what they can do. I can say I root for em as a small market type team.
  8. as a salary dump, not interested at all. Getting a DeLoRosa/Webster type prospect back also....grrrrrr. Its hard to argue it tho unless we know who MN turned down as prospects or wait & see what type of deal they get this winter (IF they deal him) Earlier when Pitt azquired Wandy Rodriguez, Dan Gladden hinted hard on the radio that the Twins turned down the same prospect deal for Frankie & got the 2 from the Sox instead. Easier to argue that one (ambivilant on that one myself) as you can compare.
  9. Arguement that cant be won if you believe in your side. Ill never beleive the Twins promote quickly. They dont use the minor leagues to develop players for the MLB team, they use it to field a minor league team. There was NO reason last year to keep Benson & Parmelee in New Brit all year or for them not to give Brian Dozier some AAA time or a Sept callup. There is the New Brit lineup this year. Ill never buy into prospects being blocked by Rene Rivera's/Clete Thomas types. I know you need organizational depth, but guys of this ilk do nothing to an organization this late in the year. I agreee on DSantana also as there is no weak playoff excuse in Ft Myers, but he's blocked by Shawn Roof!!! Promotions dont have to always be prospects either ala Singleton. They keep guys in a level 2/3 yrs when its obvious they have done what they need to do to be promoted. I also think they keep some players down in a level too long that they lose that 'prospect' type label. In his 22/23 yr old yr, Rene Tosoni was Futures Game MVP & had a .271/.360/.454 line at New Brit & what happenned.....he got a 2nd yr there. Twins claim/was proven that he had shoulder problems that needed surgery, but they were NEVER gonna allow him to show he could handle AAA in 2010 because he was blocked by Jacque Jones!!!! By 2011, he was old for a first time AAA 'prospect' IMO. There sometimes is a difference between high school/college/16 yr old Latin signing tho. If you can play, you can play.....get em up. Guys like me wouldnt be so upset also if guys who DONT deserve promotions quit getting em....Steve Liddle for ex, Danny Lehmann this year over Hermann, etc.
  10. Harrison 108 pitches & comes out for the 8th inning. This is how you DONT tax the pen
  11. guess who is gonna be the AL player of the week....2gms left also
  12. Its not best prospect tho. Also surprised that he won, but at age 22 we will see how he does next year in Low A where he will compete for middle infield playing time with higher prospect Jorge Polanco & Niko Goodrum.
  13. First 2 starts 9.2IP 12h 6er 5.87era 8k 8bb 2.07whip Next 3 starts 19.1IP 10h 2er 0.93era 11k 12bb 1.14whip Last 4 starts (including tonight) 22IP 26h 16er 6.55era 11k 17bb 1.95whip Think we see where the abberation is (vs KC/Clev/Bos also) Keep throwing him out there & he will take care of any arguement of whether he should be in the mix next year for MN
  14. PJ still not looking good Tonight 66pitches 3IP 10h 7er 3k 1bb One may two more starts before Sept 1......could be up sooner w/Diamonds suspension
  15. we may need a 14th pitcher....wonder if Drew could go at least 5IPs or if Blacky may be back ???
  16. I might as well write next Thursday's news story: Dateline August 30 The Twins are thinking about having an MRI done on Josh Willingham's sore neck. He has not played since a 5-1 loss in Oakland on August 22. If they find something they likely will put him retroactively on the 15 day disabled list. If they don't see anything on the MRI they will take it day-by-day and see if he can play tomorrow. VERY well written Denard needs a day off after this exhausting road trip
  17. pfft...we'd be wondering why Trout hadn't been moved up to help the Rockcat's playoff chances. was trying to be positive but that was my first thought also
  18. Disagree. Having Butera around to take some starts lessens the risk of Mauer or Doumit suffering a late-season injury behind the plate. I don't really see why the Twins need five outfielders at this point. I wasn't clear. I would rather have a bench bat than a 3rd catcher NEXT YEAR, which means I want to see if Carson can be that bench bat. That's why I'd like to keep him up. As for this year, I think Mauer and Doumit catching 50% of the games is plenty of rest. Cutting it down to 40% each with 20% going to Butera doesn't seem to be much of a difference to me. 20% of starts is 32 gms. If Drew is starting, either Mauer/Doumit/Morneau or Willingham is sitting. What good does that do?? You'ld really be fine with Mauer/Doumit catching 65gms each (40%)???? Joe used to be a Gold Glove catcher (know the award is bogus...but) & you absolutely weaken the team when he's not catching (40% would be 95gms) , & either of the other 2 are. Many people say you play Butera for his defense, but then you're just taking out a better defensive C (many's opinion) to get him in....immediate deficit before the offensive drop also Ill NEVER hear an arguement of why Drew should be on team and buy it tho
  19. Twins took Dan Berlind in 7th round (248th) in 2007 and Tampa took Matt Moore 2 picks later
  20. Named the DH on the Eastern LG All Star team nice accomplishment
  21. not an Easter Lg All Star OF losing out to Aaron Hicks, Trenton's Zolio Almonte (96gms .283/.328/.507 20hr 68rbi) & Akrons Thomas Neal (110gms.310/.400/.467 12hr 51rbi).... know its about games, but doesnt this kid get ANY respect from people???
  22. Posted Bashores numbers in another thread and he's in Low A for Yanks, but pitching very solidly (did get 5 early season gms out of pen in FSL). Had one very bad game in Low A (10er in 2.1IP) but other than that, his ERA is very low 2.07 in 46.2IP 41Ks (10gms all starts) . Back on the DL now. Still only 24 Didnt get the outright release either.
  23. Im still about trying to buy low & deal Justin to TOR (home country boy) for Ricky Romero. Ricky has been horrible, no question, but to get an ace/solid #2 type....you gotta take chances. Even the top level pitchers have down years. Control has been his problem this year, but getting him to a pitchers park & out of a hitters park could be part of what turns him around. He's a massive groundball guy (unlike the supposed groundballer Blackburn) also & could possibly be helped by getting off the Rogers Ctr's version of its field turf
  24. And I have zero problems with that. I'd like to see Butera off the roster (just like everybody else) but I don't see it as a pressing concern at this point. At this point, absolutely no. Just changing the overall thinking of the organiztion regarding this issue is needed tho.
  25. Tommy Hanson for Denard Span base of a deal. Let the minions work out the details. Get it done! Myself, hoping for a deal involving Tampa involving Davis/Niemann or Cobb/Shields individually. Good thinking tho....Hanson has gotten a lil worse each yr & arm problems scare me a bit
