I mean, the guy you're citing, Slegers, isn't a top 30 prospect and is unlikely to turn into anything amazing. If I told you Slegers is on the 2019 Twins you'd assume he's a middle reliever and you're probably sad that he's made the team. The young Twins would be Jorge, Romero or Gonsalves - those are legitimate prospects. Romero is on an innings limit, Jorge had mixed results and Gonsalves hasn't really done AAA yet. That leaves you with "the old, never was players". What are you gonna do? Starting pitching wasn't a strength and the team is pretty deep in its starting pitching depth - May, Santiago, Mejia, Enns are all injured. No team is great when it hits starting pitchers 10-15. I'm actually impressed that they have guys as good as Sledgers/Melville/Gee/Wheeler/Hurlburt when they hit that far into their depth. Some nice pickups, even if you don't love seeing them start. In my mind, the Twins have given starts to fringe MLBers three times in the last week due to doubleheader/injury mischief. It worked out with Slegers, didn't with Melville and looks okay with Gee thus far (knocks on wood). Going 2-1 in those games would be nice. "Always look on the bright side of life."
