  1. I don't think it's anything to worry about but transfers of that nature and frequency can effect a program a little. Not to mention, Nelson would have provided some good depth if Streveler doesn't come along quickly. I have faith in Leidner. Makes you wonder if they should have red shirted Nelson.
  2. Agreed, but I think it's coming, they held tough against Wisconsin and Michigan State but close won't cut it for much longer. While the Nebraska game was much celebrated, I think anyone in the know realizes that was a Husker team in a bit of disarray. The Syracuse game was definitely a big disappointment, although in the big picture it effects the program very little. It's definitely a game they should have won however. The ironic thing is how much the Syracuse game says about Nelson, he was awful. Good luck in the MAC with that resume.
  3. Curious move but not altogether surprising, a bit of a blow especially if Leidner goes down next season, although Streveler may arguably be the man regardless soon enough. Funny part is that Nelson wants to go somewhere to pass more, despite not exactly being too adept at it so far for the Gophers. Or maybe he's got the inside track on Jeff Jones signing and knows he might never throw the ball again. 2 QB transfers in two years for Kill , definitely interesting to see if anything else comes out of this. http://fansided.com/2014/01/16/minnesota-golden-gophers-quarterback-philip-nelson-transfer/
  4. Nice work Crikket, really looking forward to having Molly in the dugout this season and seeing what effect he might have.
  5. ............................[video=youtube;K8E_zMLCRNg] .............................................
  6. The day they signed Nolasco is when they exceeded my expectations, when they signed Hughes I became downright greedy and now want more. Expect? No, want? Yes.
  7. I wonder where they could get someone to fit that bill......??
  8. What context do you mean that? Their A ball seasons are certainly comparable with Buxtons arguably better.
  9. Was he ahead in the count there or behind? I couldn't tell.
  10. Concur, and this is part of the overall argument to sign Drew, he serves as a good bridge to when or if Polanco or Goodrum do become part of the discussion.
  11. Since when can Florimon hit lefties?
  12. I think the potential for that to happen with what they already have is much higher than at SS. Willingham is a good candidate to have a bounceback year, Arcia is 22 and needs to play next year, it will be interesting to see what Mauer produces at 1st without the wear and tear of C and Sano is your other corner in waiting. They have nothing waiting at SS and by the time they do they will hopefully have flipped Drew for a useful prospect............maybe even a SS.
  13. Drew represents an upgrade from what this team currently has, this team needs upgrades and can more than afford it, they should be looking to upgrade everywhere possible, money should have nothing to do with it. Additionally, if Drew ends up staying healthy and playing well in Minnesota, he could return a better prospect down the road in trade than what a second round draft pick today might ever return.
  14. If a team is close to contending then go with the sure thing if that fills a need. This team is still minimum a few years away in my opinion, if we're having this conversation in 2016 assuming our expected prospects work out then trading a 2nd round pick for a proven asset is an easy decision. No matter how confident a team is with a second round draft pick, there is just no such thing as a sure thing.
  15. I think it's more likely Garza, Jimenez and Santana are waiting for the Tanaka sweepstakes to conclude before committing. It has the chance to set the bar higher for all of them.
  16. Are you suggesting his poor performance was due to a lack of fitness? He can look like he swallowed a basketball for all I care, as long as his arm is in good shape and he gets batters out. I think Worley is the 5th starter out of ST and has a good chance at contributing next season.
  17. But he's only 23 and couldn't you also say Doumit is a carbon copy of at least a couple of other alleged right fielders we have? Except he's the overpaid one
  18. You don't give raises from profit, bonuses yes, raises no. Antony seems like a sharp enough guy, probably deserves a raise, I'm happy for him.
  19. Clear roster space maybe, why would they need to clear money? They have plenty left to spend. I like the Doumit trade personally, he's redundant. Gilmartin may prove to be as well but at 23 at least there is potential to have a useful player down the road.
  20. Doubtful..................I hope.
  21. I think it will be Worley and likely should be, he's one out of the few that are out of options, that in my mind, has the best chance of turning it around. Considering he's only 26 and has the highest upside, you'd have to think he's the guy they most want to slide in there.
  22. It's a minor league deal, I think org depth is a more appropriate description than logjam, he's not going to block anyone.
