It absolutely kills me how this gets conveniently glossed over by all the folks who say Buxton needs to earn his way up or has no business being on the roster.
Why? If Buxton can't learn to hit a major league breaking ball, he can play in Rochester until he's blue in the face, it's unlikely to be of any greater advantage to him.
Defensible? Yes, necessary? Debatable. I don't think they're going to harm him by keeping him up, more likely it benefits his development. Considering they bailed on the season at the deadline, they might as well.
I'd also pay to see Buxton work on hitting curves with the Twins. I'd bet with consistent playing time between now and the end of the year, he'll figure it out better than Butera ever did. You aren't really expecting anyone to take that comparison seriously, are you?
Well cutting Mauer is about as likely as this team finishing about .500 so back to more realistic topics. Suzuki starting That bullpen 40 year old outfielders Mike Pelfrey Trevor May Shane Robinson Infielders in the outfield Guys named Eduardo being DH WTF Terry? Seriously, WTF? I've showed faith in Ryan since he came back, I think I'm done. Watching this crap for going on 5 years without any definitive direction as to where it's heading and being patronised about the players he thinks we're supposed to accept as making the team better.
Why can't they keep the option and start him with big club next year? Just because they might decide to keep the option doesn't necessarily mean they're worried they'll need it. With the timing of his rehab and September call ups, they'd be pretty stupid to waste it for no reason.
The Jays stole the Twins lunch money, pulled their shorts down, kicked sand in their faces and walked away with their girlfriends. It was like King Kong vs Ant-Man and even that flatters the Twins. Hopefully they can manage to pull the atomic wedgie out in time to regroup against the tribe.
Hey Vanimal, great show, big fan here. Wondering your take on the potential of a future 11 man pen and bunting from the 1st inning on? It's revolutionary I know but I feel if anyone can do it, it's the Twins. Interested on your take.
This is a disgrace, the Jays are loaded but to go there and just get treated like their doormat is embarrassing. 4 game sweep in the most pivotal, meaningful series so far, say good night Alice.
