  1. So happy to get this out of the way. Welcome back boomstick! Now we know where we stand, let's go out and sew this up
  2. IMO Ozuna isn't an option. Don't you think that he's waiting to see if there's an universal DH too. If we can't afford Cruz we surely can't afford Ozuna if it's official.
  3. Great article! Hats off to the FO, they saw the need found the solution and they let Simmons know that we're interested and sold the Twins. I'm excited about the addition of Simmons. Not only his talent but also the knowledge that he brings. I've felt the need for our SS prospects to get all the preparations that they need. I was concerned about Lewis being adequately trained at SS but now I'm not. Simmons has a lot to give and Lewis is hungry to learn. Lewis can pass that knowledge along. The fact that all the FAs that was linked to the Twins they didn't sign (hopefully Cruz is the exception) and those they did, weren't. Gives me some hope that they might be considering some FAs that aren't still linked to the Twins. Simmons will also inspire the rest of the defense to achieve an higher level
  4. I'm buying on all the Twins. Dobnak will bring in the greatest return some I could short but I won't.
  5. If everyone is healthy, I believe they'd come pretty close
  6. It'll be a great pleasure to see Simmons and this infield perform.
  7. The staff last year wanted to reduce Berrios's intense preseason workouts because they believed that it drained his strength at the end of the season. But because of the shortened season it backfired. He wasn't as prepared so his performance wasn't up to speed in the beginning. But at the end he was just warming up. If this season is normal he'll be on track. Hope he can take the next step and be the ace that we want him to be. At the same time hoping he signs an extension
  8. Now with the great addition of Simmons , we have edged ahead of CWS. Hopefully soon we can bring home Cruz and that put us in the driver's seat. I trust they'll come up with a good BP and rotation. We have great hitting and defense.
  9. I really missed Andy Macphail when he left. He knew the need and got it done right away. He was a shrewd negotiator. Things went downhill from there. But this FO has done a good job at bringing in a great manager and coaching staff with the high tech. Any serious injury to Buxton or Simmons (I hope not) Lewis should be called up. When Lewis is called up there'd be a lot of work for him because he's a true super utility player
  10. I believe Didi is too expensive for their blood. If there's a deal I think it won't happen until close to dead line. They more motivated to get rid of their heavy salary burden. I believe they'll do anything to drop them from their payroll.
  11. It's too bad that CLE is in our division because we miss out on pitchers that CLE discard. It's like playing cards when we're not behind the player that we want their discards and not able to pick up. To some this is a pretty sensitive subject.
  12. Simmons acquisition could be a double blessing. 1st we strengthened our SS position. 2nd we took away the Reds last shot at a legitimate SS. Without a legitimate SS and the Reds are thinking about trading their capable 3B, Reds pitchers, Castillo and Gray would probably lose trading value because grounders are going through for hits. Hopefully our players value will go up. Then makes it more feasible to trade Jefferies could be a fit for BP
  13. Thanks Top Gun, later I discovered my mistake and tried to correct it but you had already discovered it.
  14. To address the statements that Lewis's poor hitting in 2019 AA. He addressed that by saying it was mental. He took care of that by hitting well and winning MVP in the AFL, while playing 2 different positions. At St. Paul we didn't get much news, the only news that came out was that Lewis was the best hitter there. Yet Rooker, Jeffers, Kiriloff and Blankenhorn were brought up and hit very well, how does that reflects on Lewis? Many criticize his high leg kick. But many have had success with it, namely Donaldson and Puckett. So I'm not worried about him hitting in MLB.
  15. Many say Simmons is all glove & no bat. But his bat is pretty good too, just that he doesn't have the power of some other top SS's. I'll still take his glove over their bats
  16. of coarse Luis Castillo, he had Bryant & Baez on his left side which he had benefitted greatly. W/o them he'd be another Dobnak. But we have to remember we have Simmons for only 1 Year.
  17. I don't think that anyone is down on Arraez, just realistic. W/ Donaldson , Polanco & Arraez are around average. W/o Donaldson, they are well below par at SS & 2B. As Donaldson is doubtful as an every day 3B, if we want to compete something needed to be done. HOF Rod Carew was an all star 2B but he was shifted to 1B because he wasn't very good at it yet he had better range than Arraez. The fact his name is brought up on trades is because his value is high. I don't think they'll trade Arraez, they'll find a place for his bat. Arraez is not a super utility player. I don't consider Gonzalez as a super utility player. My definition is a player which can play SS & CF anyone else is just utility.
  18. I think Sano is our best back up option too. I don`t know exactly how they are going to manage Donaldson. . If they`ll rotate him at 1B or DH or complete rest the days he's not playing 3B or a combination of all 3. I disagree that this is a minor transaction. IMO this will totally revolutionizes the Twins & Polanco if he is kept at 2nd. Now we need a decent long term back up to Buxton. Although we hope that Buxton remains healthy the whole season , we can no longer depend on it. I love this transaction , Baez was my 1st option but Simmons was my second. Just hope his ankles are healthy. Best transaction for a long time
  19. It's close, Kiriloff has more power but I'd choose Lewis because of his athleticism. His ability to play the critical positions of SS and CF which is the Twins greatest need. I'm not worried about his stance, he has shown that he's able to make the necessary adjustments.
  20. I like Bryant but our only real need for him is being a great platoon with Donaldson, that would be expensive and not fair to him. Baez makes much more sense, with his talent and ties to Berrios, I'd like to get extentions with both of them. This should be top priority for FO. Cubs are motivated to trim the budget and gain prospects, they'd lose out if they keep him. FO needs to be aggressive in open communications and be creative to get the deal done. Meaning if we don't have all the Cubs want, go to a 3rd party. We can't let another one slip away. Baez will be cheap since it's his last year and poor 2020. No top prospects, probably a couple of low ones. Please get it done
  21. Yeahyabetcha are you making a bid for Gonzalez? The point that I was making was that our focus has to be on critical positions,C,SS and CF. C is covered,SS we need an upgrade(suggestion:Baez with Adrianza subbing) CF we need a better back up(suggestion:Pillar and can start at LF). Once we cover our critical positions we can get by with inferior subs at less critical positions. Corner OF options Kiriloff Cave Wade Larnach Rooker Astudillo Arraez 3B options Adrianza Astudillo Arraez 2B Arraez Adrianza Astudillo 1B Kiriloff Rooker Larnach Astudillo Arraez- if he has no experience he can learn We have a lot of options. We can get by without Gonzalez's slightly superior glove at those positions My focus is fielding a World Series caliber team
  22. It's interesting that the FO was interested in Yates. They signed also Springer. Because of his connection with Brantley. They could also get him
  23. Looks like Quintana is going to the Angels
  24. I agree with everyone. It was a terrible trade. Ramos was a very capable back up to Mauer. I can understand the idea behind the trade but the content is unbelievably imbalanced, they could have done much better. Trades like this helps to see why they are gun shy about going after big name relievers.
  25. I don't like bashing of players. Gonzalez is a good player but we don't need him. The non critical positions that he plays can be more economically substituted internally. It scares me that he's even on their radar. & not focused on critical needs on critical positions! We are starved for news but not this news
