  1. There was never any (zero) reason to give a financial deal to that market. The guy who bankrupted the Dodgers was diddling around and a legit court system never allows that b.s. Read about it and then realize the owners did sign off on the subsequent media deal. Now ...... please players bail us out.
  2. Trevor hits it right on the head. The Dodgers do what they do specifically because of the media contract. That was a roughly billion dollar gift from MLB. And the owners okayed that decision but people want the players to solve that problem.
  3. Sometimes it can be hard to be a Twins fan. But, i listened to the very first Twins game on the radio in 1961 and unless I go to rehab things will stay the same.
  4. A small complaint I have about the Twins announcers, although I often have the sound off, is that there is seldom any nuance or informative talk. Just now, we hear that the Mariners scored two on a double but no mention of the fact that the ball was imminently catchable or that the ball was fumbled/dropped to score a second run. Pretty crazy to think that the second run was scored as earned despite the runner stopping before the booted ball. Defense matters and the announcers are vacant talking heads.
  5. You totally missed it. Shelton went to the mound, used five infielders, and told everyone they were looking for a ground ball double play with Raleigh being a very slow runner. The play is second base. The manager could not have been any more predictive or instructive. Royce made a mistake, it happens. You just did too. It's all good. They need to keep playing hard because there is plenty of season left. Or ..... you were being sarcastic.
  6. Kaelen Culpepper has been the most fun player to watch for me within the Twins minor league system the last two years. I did not like what I saw of Hunter Greene when i watched the Skeens-Greene matchup the other day. Then again, Skeens didn't look good either. Part of me wants the Twins to make a larger trade like this. Someone suggested a trade for Greene to other day that included Riley Quick going to Cincy and i said no. Then Quick looked horrible last night when i watched him pitch. Now I'm wondering if there is a path to interest the Reds in a package of players. The Reds need pitching and outfielders. They have a young stud catcher coming but another catcher might catch their attention too. Is there a way to hold KC while satisfying the Reds wishes? Proposal (off the top of my head, which no longer contains a brain): Emmanuel Rodriguez, Alan Roden, Dasan Hill, and Eduardo Tait for Hunter Greene. Add Matt Wallner as the new Adam Dunn for the Reds. Seriously, one has to wonder if the Twins are discussing any major players or just looking at adding along the fringes.
  7. The Twins have a glut of DH bats who are listed as outfielders. Larnach is having a better season than most believed he would produce, so he leads the list because he could bring back something worth a roster spot. Abreu would be #1 in the Twins bullpen. It really isn't about liking Larnach, it is about finding some balance with the roster. Wallner, Mendez, and Gonzalez are DH bats. Roden and Rodriguez are questions, both LH bats. Martin has some utility and Fedko had a rough intro to MLB. Jenkins is waiting for a shot. Keaschall is unlikely to play on the dirt again. Buxton has a contract. That is eleven outfielders, not counting Kody Clemens or Ryan Kreidler who can both play out on the grass. So 13 guys is a lot. Somehow this piled up on the Twins and eventually the numbers will need to be sheared down. The biggest problem with the list is that only Jenkins projects as a talent to lean on, although Buck will still be around too. So if one deletes Clemens and Kreidler and looks over the eleven names it seems like Buck and Jenkins are keepers and then pick two more. However one looks at it there needs to be a trade of an outfielder or three. Larnach seems like he has the most value. Send Wallner somewhere where he might get another chance as a favor.
  8. Will you watch the Twins or the Vikings when they play at the same time in September?
  9. I always enjoy the reports. Thank you. Watching Ft. Myers play is fun. The players are all over the place in their skills and development and they seem to be having a lot of fun. Riley Quick didn't look very consistent with his delivery and his command was mia. He looked quite a bit better last time out. I guess a ton of moving parts to align is difficult.
  10. Ok. Another person who believes a cap is coming. You are not alone. I'm just in it for the baseball. How the owners mess with the game is well out of my control.
  11. What does the CBA have to do with a trade of prospects for Skubal? Milwaukee has a phenomenal minor league system, probably better than the Dodgers. They surely could have offered up a few of their guys within their top ten without losing their top three guys. The Twins benefit from not facing Skubal any more this season ..... until the World Series.
  12. Lewis is playing pretty well since his recall. I believe you suggested earlier in another comment that Lewis is healthier physically. He does move better. Credit should be given. Sometimes it seems like folks are not happy unless they are ripping the team for not winning every game. It always seems like a football thing.
  13. We are all old. Shelton stated in his postgame comments that they were to go to second and complete a DP on a slow runner (Raleigh). However, stuff happens and so tomorrow the Twins go for the series win. We should be pretty impressed by the pitching. A little glitch with grips on the ball by Prielipp in the first inning and a mistake to Arozarena were all our pitchers gave up. Prielipp looked strong again. The talk about pitch limits can go away now.
  14. I'm just not piling on Lewis there. Smart? I never understood what smart was. Anyone born after 1990 should be worth tens or hundreds of millions if they were smart, right? or if you knew the right people and choose your parents carefully you must be smart. As far as admitting or owning up to the play, there is a game tomorrow. Baseball, more than most sports cannot dwell on what happened in the past. They try to learn from their experiences and move on. The inability to accept failure is the biggest reason that some outstanding athletes cannot play baseball. It is an extremely humbling sport. It takes enormous confidence, humility, and smarts to succeed at baseball.
  15. You think teams will play at a .666 winning percentage in the last 50 games (33-17 or 34-16)? Maybe somebody does. We shall see. Currently, only the Brewers and Dodgers are winning at a pace above .591.
  16. My take away ..... today's game was a really good baseball game. Gilbert and Prielipp both throw nasty stuff.
  17. Considering that most teams are very close to .500, any team that wins most of their series will be in the playoffs. Always remember that the baseball season is a slog. The Twins get walked off today and tomorrow there is a game. There is a ton of baseball yet to be played. The history of the game includes many teams left for done only to finish strong.
  18. Well that might be easy for you or me to type but then nobody on TD could even catch the ground ball to begin with ... in their prime.
  19. No real reason to be too excited about it. Stuff happens. I will point out (not to you but just generally) that many people suggest that first base is an easy position to play. It may require the least amount of athleticism and the most amount of baseball acumen. I think Royce has been pretty good over at first base. He is better at first than he was at third and he is also better than anyone else on the roster except for Clemens at first base.
  20. The play was to catch the ball and throw to second base and then receive the return throw for a double play. The mistake was stepping on the bag. Shelton actually stated that that is what they expected to happen when they shifted to five infielders. Stuff happens.
  21. Excellent comments by Shelton. Get the win tomorrow. It's all about winning series.
