  1. A mod needs to add “(last)” in the middle of “this week” in the thread title.
  2. Depending on what the FO thinks of Wade, it make them more open to dealing Rosario or Kepler. The issue with trading Rosario or Kepler (presumably for pitching) is that a team willing to give up a quality starter most likely wants an asset back with more than 4 years of team control left.
  3. Another website used Melky Cabrera as a comp. I think 2011-2016 Melky is Wade's ceiling. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cabreme01.shtml
  4. I can’t imagine very many people would say 4th OF is Wade’s ceiling. It might be his most likely outcome, but his ceiling is higher than 4th outfielder.
  5. Add in the fact that 5 years from now, if the Twins have had a successful 4 years, team revenue will likely have gone up more than enough to cover a 30M “thanks for the memories, Yu” year
  6. T-minus 2 hours!!!! Are we all staying up until midnight?
  7. I'm sick of all this "Santana is going to regress" talk. No kidding he's going to regress. The Twins paid $13.5M last year for a guy that finished 7th in the AL Cy Young vote and one of the guys that finished above him was a reliever. What are the odds he regresses? Pretty darn good, I'd say. But how much? And wouldn't a small regression still make him a pretty darn good #2 option? Maybe even still an OK #1 option? Some might point to the Twins defense as a reason why he outperformed his peripherals and got Cy Young votes. Do we expect that to regress? I wouldn't. If it does, it would be barely. So either his performance was a crazy personal outlier and it's bound to fall off the cliff, or his performance wasn't that big of an outlier because it was largely buoyed by another factor that probably will not regress (the defense) I'd lean to option 2. Also, why can't any pitcher we sign (Darvish please) also have their numbers buoyed by the Twins defense.
  8. I’d say over the last dozen years the Twins and Brewers have had roughly the same amount of success (or non success, in terms of the playoffs), but man, it’s got to be so much more exciting to be a fan of a team that are movers and shakers. It hasn’t seemed to doom the Brewers like some people are so fearful of. If anything it’s allowed them to have assets to buy and sell with.
  9. I love how signing a 29yo to a long contract is somehow incredible, but a 31yo is pure insanity. We all know the bell curves, but that is over thousands and thousand of baseball players. This is one dude.
  10. If anything that should bolster the case for signing Yu and go against signing Cobb and/or Lynn
  11. What was the definition of "worked out"
  12. The sample will be small enough that nothing will be conclusive, but my gut says "its complicated" Do they work out for teams that are already very likely to make the playoffs? Probably not. Do the Dodgers need the four more wins next year they would get by signing Darvish instead of using whoever would be their 5th starter? No. Their "success" will be determined by how they do in the post season. Those samples are small enough that anything can happen and Darvish will likely have a very small percentage impact on what occurs. Do they work out for teams that are on the fringe of the playoffs? Maybe. Do the Twins need the four more wins next year they will get by signing Darvish instead of using..... Slegers? Yeah. They do. That would significantly increase their odds of making the playoffs and go towards catching the Indians for the division. Those 4 games make WAAAAAY more difference than the 4 games the Dodgers would get.
  13. I feel like getting to know this guy would be like getting to know the family that is VRBOing your neighbor's house for a week.
  14. Lewis not mentioned once in the best tools section. Odd for the #5 guy on the list, especially since on of the tools (arm) had like 7 guys tied.
  15. I'd gladly take a slight drop in sprint speed for 15-20lbs of bulk that turns those flyouts, doubles, and triples into homeruns. Eddie's best attribute will always be his hands. I want some bulk behind those hands. Anything better than "below average" on defense, is a bonus, in my opinion
  16. Really enjoyed these the last two weeks. I thought your segment with Slegers was the best so far, it was the most like a conversation as opposed to an interview.
  17. I was listening to the pod while driving, with one earbud in because there were three other people in the car. About half way through, Aaron’s audio cut out. I listened for a while because a) you could barely make him out from John’s mic, and b.) I didn’t have anything better to listen to. Eventually I switched buds randomly (L to R) and then all I got was Aaron’s audio, so I listened to the final 20 minutes with both buds in. Not sure if you guys flipped a setting at some point. It happened right before the RX Bar ad break.
  18. Did you seriously list Rodney’s $250k
  19. One of the guys on the MLB Pipeline podcast picked Graterol as his prospect that might shoot up the prospect lists the most this season.
  20. Yeah... he was due for a regression to the mean
  21. I looked on Minnesota Sports Weekly when I posted the original question. It was not there then, but it is there now. For iPhone users, just subscribe to that podcast. I assume this will be the most consistent way going forward.
  22. I’d rather pay a much higher price for 4 years of Archer.
  23. Falvey and Levine seem like logical men. It seems completely logical to me, that if you sign Darvish, you trade for Archer (unless the asking price is just completely over the top). Signing Darvish opens the door and with a little prospect luck could move you toward WS contention. Doing both flings that door wide open and gives you a legit 4 year window of WS contention.
  24. 4/120 - yes 5/140 - yes 5/150 - reasonable, but I’m getting uneasy. 6/155 - yes 6/165 - I could talk myself into it. 6/175 - pass, but I’ll be sad 6/200 - run!
