  1. They just keep taking pitches hoping for a wild pitch
  2. He had a nice throw yesterday that should have resulted in a out at home plate, but Suzuki couldn't handle it.
  3. This is historically our M.O. against Price. Get a run or two early, threaten a big inning, then have him make us look silly while he pitches into the 8th
  4. I'll assume Sano just ignored the bunt sign
  5. I want this inning to continue just to see Rodney try to hit
  6. Lloyd won the race to exhaust all bench options, but Paul isn't far behind
  7. Espn's take on our deadline.... (From an insider article) Bueller? Bueller? Bueller? While it's not precisely correct to say that the Twins did nothing -- they acquired Kevin Jepsen and they signed Michael Bowden, who was a prospect eight to 10 years ago -- for all intents and purposes, they didn't do anything to change the contours of the wild-card race. Minnesota rightly doesn't want to give up any of its prime prospects with its window of contention still opening, but a more creative team could at least have done something, even a fairly minor move, to shore up its weak spots. They tell you to dress for the job you want, but the Twins showed up this deadline dressing more like a 90-loss team than a team that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.
  8. As of 2 hours ago, I'd heard of 5 of these guys.
  9. I think the Astros have made this deadline extra frustrating. We were in the same boat in 2012. Same boat in 2013. Same boat in 2014. Same boat in March. Same boat in May. Same boat in early July. The Twins are not doing moves because "we don't want to mortgage the future", but I don't think we'd say that Houston seems to have mortgaged anything, yet they have significantly improved their potential playoff team while we sit here with essentially the same potential playoff team as we had 3 weeks ago.
  10. We also get the honor of paying him $5M next year. Yippee!
  11. I don't want Ryan to make a bigger move. I'm afraid he'd trade Sano for Jay Bruce
  12. If I check a boxscore specifically because you played in the game, you should not be in this trade. Hu's on first (plane to Tampa)
  13. With all these players getting added by the Blue Jays, their 40-man is going to be a mess. Claiming Colabello off waivers is just like making a trade.
  14. Could a James Shields trade center around Plouffe and a 8-15th ranked prospect?
  15. The good news is, with Price being traded, when we sign him in the offseason, it will not cost us a draft pick.
  16. Bunt call is.... ummmm.... interesting, there. 5th inning. Tie game. One of your better hitters who also happens to be prone to strike outs and apparently not very good at bunting. Yeah, let's get two strikes on that guy.
  17. The last 20 HR we have given up have all meant something (or so it seems) We are pretty close to the middle of the pack in terms of HR allowed, but man does it feel like every home run we give up is meaningful. Whereas the Twins seem to bunch up their homers in 10-1 victories.
  18. Perhaps one of the most frustrating things about being a Twins fan this last decade has been watching other teams "go for it" while our favorite team tends to "stand pat" And in this case, the "go for it" teams that I am referring to are similar or smaller markets than the Twin Cities and either division rivals or geographic rivals (Detroit, Milwaukee, KC)
  19. Interesting point I think you indirectly made here.... When you deal 5 starting pitching prospects to get an impact SP and an impact everyday player, you can tell yourself.... "Well, one of them will probably turn out to be a good player, one of them will probably turn out to be an ok player, one of them will make the big leagues at one point but have no impact, and the other two will flame out." Under that assumption it feels like a great deal(s) for the Royals. The scary part is when you are giving up one or two prospects and they MIGHT be the two that flame out or they MIGHT be the two that end up making a significant impact at the Major League level. I guess my point is, the more deals you make for major league talent by giving up minor league talent, the better chance you have of coming out ahead. Lots of prospects never make it, so it's the law of large numbers. If you only make a minor deal or two, the odds of it biting you in the butt goes up a lot.
  20. What about the almost All-Star they already have at 2B?
  21. The thing that confused me the most was batting our inferior players in the 8th then "defensive substituting" in the 9th with better hitters. I assume this was covered in the game thread but it's too painful for me to look through.
