  1. I'll assume Sano just ignored the bunt sign
  2. I think the Astros have made this deadline extra frustrating. We were in the same boat in 2012. Same boat in 2013. Same boat in 2014. Same boat in March. Same boat in May. Same boat in early July. The Twins are not doing moves because "we don't want to mortgage the future", but I don't think we'd say that Houston seems to have mortgaged anything, yet they have significantly improved their potential playoff team while we sit here with essentially the same potential playoff team as we had 3 weeks ago.
  3. With all these players getting added by the Blue Jays, their 40-man is going to be a mess. Claiming Colabello off waivers is just like making a trade.
  4. Could a James Shields trade center around Plouffe and a 8-15th ranked prospect?
  5. The good news is, with Price being traded, when we sign him in the offseason, it will not cost us a draft pick.
  6. I guess I'm just not necessarily buying that his decline has started this year. We are still in relatively small sample territory here and a couple hot weeks and he'd be over his career OPS. He's almost exactly one year removed from 340/432/603 - 1035 - Before he got hurt. Granted, with another big home/road split, but still.... I'm not ready to accept that he is in the downside of his career.
  7. I'm going to quote this again, because I have a point to make other than "play ball"..... That's the kind of lineup that allows you to get the best damn defense catcher you can find, slot him in the 9th spot, have him hit 0.190, and allow him to make your pitchers better and play great defense. It's been too long since we've had that. We've been relying on offense from our catcher for over a decade now. Enough. I'm jealous of Kansas City. I want to remember what it's like to have a premium defensive catcher.
  8. Which one are you referring to? I'm not really on board with trading Gibson. Although if nothing else of real value was included I'd probably do it. The savings (in terms of prospects) we could get from including Gibson might just net us a decent short term replacement. But, in general, I'm not really interested in losing Gibson. Berrios on the other hand? You bet. Not that I don't like the kid. I do like him. If anything, I've gotten mad at the "he's too short" crowd for what seemed to me to be an oversimplification. He seems like a really hard worker and has certainly shown a lot of promise, but pitching prospects are SOOOOOOOO hit and miss. If we could rewind the prospect talk by 1 calendar year, the thought of including Meyer in any trade talks would have seemed like sacrilege. Now he's almost a throw-in for some people. Berrios has looked really good in AA and pretty good in AAA, but until he proves it in the majors, I'm totally fine with him being in the trade.
  9. I'm encouraged that the Twins are talking to Colorado. Not because I think they are going to come to an agreement, but because it shows me the Twins are at least thinking big. With big thoughts, often times come big moves. I'd be a little skeptical if this was only leaked to Walters or Neal, or whoever. The fact that Jeremy got his hands on the info leads me to believe that's it is a) a real conversation taking place between the teams, and not just trade scraps being used to placate the masses.
  10. All of those young players will be under team control for at least a year past when Tulo's contract is up and 3 years past when Mauer's is up. I guess Gibson's team-control years might not overlap with Tulo, not sure of his exact service time situation, at the moment. But you get the point.
  11. A severely declined, age 34, non-Coors-Field-hitting Troy Tulowitzki is still FAR better than anything the Twins have trotted out in the last....... Ever.
  12. That O's board is unreadable. Both layout and content
  13. Pitching is all about Adcocking and Subtractcocking, just ask Bert.
  14. This is exactly the type of game an AL team is ill-equipped to play in an NL ballpark.
  15. Dear Byron, this is how you change a game with your speed. Take notes.
  16. Hoping for a Milone promotion was more polite than me hoping for a Pat Dean exploded UCL to clear room for Berrios
  17. I think he's proven that he can dominate AAA. Having any more (potentially rough) outings can only be a negative at this point. I'd bring him in for long relief then be the first man up, when one of our starters falters or gets injured, which, let's be honest, has to happen soon. We're kind of jammed up at this point we need an opening for Milone so that he can prove his trade worth before we get Santana back. Ideally, someone would get desperate and trade for Nolasco or Pelfrey, then we could slide Milone into that slot until Santana gets back. The huge caveat is.... We're playing really good baseball and I don't REALLY want to upset the apple cart. OK.... we've officially gotten this thread off track
  18. Every morning I wake up hoping that the 2015 Minor League Transactions thread will have a post that says: Tim Staufer DFA Tommy Milone promoted to Minnesota Twins J.O. Berrios promoted to AAA Rocherster Chih-Wei Hu Promoted to AA Chattanooga Steven Gonsalves Promoted to High A Ft Myers Lewis Thorpe had a miracle performed on him and was activated at Low A Cedar Rapids
  19. Hold on. Hold on.... Did anyone notice the name of the Closer for Biloxi? Magnifico??!?!?! How was that not the lead?
