  1. Pinto was suppose to start tonight but Fryer is the starting catcher. Does anyone know why?
  2. Something has to be done with Joe Mauer's contract. He is an annual $23,000,000 drain. That is $5,750,000 per HR and $442,000 per RBI. Put Vargas on 1st and get Pinto behind the plate for at least 50% of the games. Josmil is never going to get any better in the bullpen.
  3. One of the best "framing catchers" I have ever seen in the minor leagues was Jhonatan Arias. His ability to "frame" gave the pitchers 2-3 inches. Unfortunately, he didn't have enough offensive punch to keep him playing professionally.
  4. I can't wait to see Miguel in spring training. Missed him last season secondary to his injury. One of the most colorful kids I have hosted in my home for the Elizabethton Twins.
  5. I am so excited for Kennys! He's playing 1st base recently. Nice young man with a fine attitude and a winning personality. Sure to be a fan favorite for many years. I always enjoy my trips to spring training to see all of my "baseball sons".
  6. I guess he was wrong and BTW - Valentina his daughter is absolutely beautiful!
  7. OK - will the nay-sayers get off Jose's back? He's hard working and obviously talented.
  8. I just love Kennys. He is a HUGE fan favorite (in more ways than one). He posted a picture today in a Rock Cats uniform dressed up as a Jack-o-lantern. That's 1 big pumpkin. I have a message in to him to see if they celebrated Halloween in June in New Britain.
  9. I have nothing against Suzuki but...... Why can't multi bizzilionaire Mauer be mentoring Pinto between playing 1st base when he feels up to it and sitting on the bench when he needs to "rest". I m a huge fan of Josmil. He needs to be behind the plate.
  10. 5 of mine in the starting line up - that would make for a GREAT trip to Minnesota!
  11. Kennys Vargas is a WONDERFUL young man! He has a contagious laugh and is a fan favorite. The kids love him (he's just a large kid at heart)! Well mannered and he was very helpful to me when he stayed with me in Elizabethton. That was the season that Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, Jhonatan Arias, Jairo Rodriguez and Tyler Jones stayed here. I wish the best for him...he deserves it.
  12. Have a GREAT season AJ! You have a terrific attitude and are a fan favorite! See you next March!
  13. Josmil Pinto and pepperoni/mushroom. If I win give the coupon to Josmil for me.
  14. If you notice, the only 2 wins that the Twins have is with Josmil catching. I know, I am prejudice.
  15. I can't play favorites: Josmil Pinto and Oswaldo Acia.
  16. Being a March baby, I was born right before baseball season in upstate NY in 1962. My dad use to prop me up in the corner of the couch with lots of pillows so I couldn't fall over and we would watch Yankee games on Saturday afternoons. My love of baseball started at 6 weeks old.
  17. As a host mom for the Elizabethton Twins, I charge each player $100.00 per week. That doesn't even cover the groceries and my water and electric bills double while they are here. The boys each lunch here, take food to the park with them and then eat dinner here at 11:00 following the ballgame. I send food on the road with them too.
  18. PINTO - you are not going to find a better offensive catcher. His defense is much improved. I think he is here for the long haul....but I am a little prejudice - he frequented my dinner table many nights when he played in Elizabethton.
  19. Minor League is reporting around March 4th - I always go the week after they report.
  20. It was a very busy summer with Miguel in the house. That season I was also a host mom to Eddie Rosario, Kennys Vargas, Jhonatan Arias, Jairo Rodriguez and Tyler Jones. Things were a little rocky the first couple of days. With English help from 1 of the other players, Miguel asked me if I was to old to take care of him. Miguel was barely 18 when he got to Elizabethton. I soon found out that I am 10-12 years older than his mother in the Dominican Republic. Miguel turned out to be a fine roomie needing assistance with basic etiquette and the "dreaded" English. But we learned to text the "babes" at the ballpark and became 1 happy if not LARGE family for the summer. My most proud moment for Miguel? His 1st interview on ESPN in ENGLISH! I can't wait to get to Fort Myers and bake him his favorite cake - tres leches.
  21. I have never had any ball player live with me that has any better work ethic than Jose. The first to bed every night following the Elizabethton Twins ballgames and up eating Fruit Loops before I left for work every morning. He is bright, happy and has a very easy going personality. Loves his cookies and cream ice cream - but shrimp make him go "POOF"! Can't wait to see him next month in Fort Myers.
  22. I have to admit I was surprised when he was put on the 40 man roster. Jorge is smart and can think on his feet. I am very happy for him. He was a fan favorite in Cedar Rapids "HIP -HIP - JORGE" when he would get a hit or make a great defensive play.
  23. You won't find anyone that works any harder than Josmil. He is very aware that he has been given an opportunity and I am sure that he will make the most of it. The Twins will not be sorry.
