  1. Jose is quiet, polite and a hard worker. He was always the first in bed after the ballgames in Elizabethton and up bright and early the next day ready for the adventures of a new day. He doesn't eat shrimp, but loves cookies and cream ice cream. He has a good head on his shoulders and a huge heart. I hope he goes far!
  2. Sano improved greatly in Beloit when Kennys Vargas got there and was his 1st baseman. Vargas is a mountain of a man and a huge target. I love Sano. I was his "baseball mom" while he was in Elizabethton. His errors were horrendous here. Once while throwing to 1st base, he hit my husband in the stands. That was a "no bueno" moment.
  3. Sano is much better defensively when Vargas is at 1st base. Kennys is a mountain of a man, a HUGE target and keeps miguel grounded. When Kennys arrived at Beloit is when Sano's errors went way down. It is also quite amusing to hear Vargas bellow: "Sano, throw it to Big Poppi". Both are great kids and I can't wait to see them during spring training.
  4. So happy For Josmil! He is a great guy and very hard working. Hope to see him starting in minnesota one day.
  5. Cool inside information about our best pitching prospect! Thank you for sharing! Do you know if Jose is coming back to live with you next summer? I don't know. I'm going to spring training in March ( i still have about 30 "baseball sons" in the organization). I try to get all of them out to dinner. We have to work around English lessons! I usually have a list of 13 or so that want to stay here if they come to Elizabethton. I find out about 4 or 5 days before they get on the bus in fort myers who is going to be here.
  6. Jose stayed in my home while in Elizabethton. He is polite and easy to get along with. He doesn't eat shrimp and he really likes cookie and cream ice cream. (two very important things for a host mom to know!) Good luck Jose!! You will go far.
  7. Ryan's home is in minneapolis i'm sure he wouldn't mind coming home (and the incrase in pay would also be nice). we'd misshim here in elizabethton - he has been with us several seasons.
  8. I have Jorge Polanco, Jhonatan Arias, Hein Robb and Daniel Nunez. They rolled in at 3:30 and we have eaten dinner twice and had dessert. I hope they are suppose to gain weight!
  9. seems like you had a great trip seth. never realized what a stir eddie and miguel make - just 2 of "mi hijos" here in elizabethton. hope to see you at spring training next year in fort myers.
  10. He will be fine. Remember, he won't be 19 until next month. I was more worried about his errors - but that looks alot better than last season.
  11. Eddie played CF last year in Elizabethton.
  12. I know what short season A kids go through - I am one of the host moms. I get a little less than half of their take home pay and it doesn't even cover the grocery bill to feed them. I host mostly Latin kids and several of them are trying to send money home to parents and wives to help out. Playing 68 games in 71 days is grueling - with the amount of hours at the field and at the gym and the bus rides to away games, the kids are making way less than minimum wage.
  13. Remember Rosie has just changed positions from CF to 2nd base. He will be fine. Your bigger worry will probably be Sano's errors.
  14. My kids are safe for another day. It was nice to see Chris a couple of weeks ago in spring training. Sorry to see him released.
