  1. Oh...Berrios!!! That's all I'm going to say...Oh Berrios.
  2. Well, if we can finally move on from Gibson and replace him with a decent starter, I would say we have a real good chance of upgrading our rotation, actually. Lots of free agents to choose from this offseason. I am actually looking forward to seeing the rotation next year, especially if Pineda can come back.
  3. If the Yankees do pass the Twins for the record HR in a season mark this year, (I don't think they will), then one thing is sure: You won't hear another word about juiced balls or any of that for the rest of the season and playoffs. You can take that to the bank! It is so obnoxious as a Twins fan. Oh, and in football, I'm a Buffalo Bills fan so I have to deal with that too, how the media talks constantly about my ultimate rival Patriots.
  4. 20-11 to reach 100 wins for the year. It is a possibility. I would love to see it!
  5. Is this the first time we have been 29 games above .500? I think it is!
  6. I've seen more than a few games where a team will make a furious comeback and then the other team gets mad, scores a run, and the team that had done such a great job to come back is out of gas and loses the game anyways. I have seen that more than a few times in all of my days watching baseball. Glad to see KC take one of those games from Cleveland! The series with Detroit turned out to be a decent series when it was all said and done. The Twins played their best game of the series today against Detroit's best pitcher too!
  7. Compared to some of the teams in the 2000s, no this is not fun. It's a root canal. Compared to last year or 2016? Okay I get what you mean. But those years were not pennant chase years either. I am referring more to the playoff push. Usually playoff pushes are exhilirating, this is embarrassing.
  8. I actually kind of feel for Baldelli a bit as well. If he's a competitive guy, and I'm sure he is as he has been in baseball most of his life, he has to be FURIOUS right now. He certainly controls himself quite admirably.
  9. I do honestly feel bad for the fans that have been going to the games at Target Field. Watching the game on my TV from Bismarck and being disappointed is a little bit different from a fan spending good money at the ballpark and not seeing decent baseball for a very long stretch.
  10. I'm not going to criticize Baldelli's managing style but I will just go so far as to say that I do not understand it. That's all.
  11. Does anyone else kind of have the feeling this year that the fun that we are supposed to be having in a pennant race is just not there? I don't know. It just isn't as fun as it supposed to be this year. I guess it has a lot to do with poor defense and bad baseball. I'm the kind of fan that likes to see my team play a nice crisp game. Doesn't it seem like we have had very few crisp, solid games this year? I know I enjoyed the teams in the 2000s a whole lot more even with far less homers.
  12. The Twins front office has just got to be pulling their hair out with the bad play at home. I'm sure they would really love to take advantage of this pennant race and tickets should be flying out the window. Should be non-stop sellouts, (I don't know if it has been sold out), but yeah, the way the season is going there should be a MAJOR buzz going around in Minneapolis and serious excitement but the team plays so poorly in their own backyard how can there be excitement? I actually feel bad for the front office with this unbelievably poor baseball at home.
  13. My Dad asks: "Did Cleveland win?" My response: "Yes. Cleveland beats bad teams. They may lose to good teams, but Cleveland does beat bad teams."
  14. Hopefully, a game like this will start to convince the team that Berrios is not an ace. Because he is not an ace. Plain and simple. Sorry guys, but he's not and never has been. He's shown ability in the last few years but where does this 'ace' stuff even come from to begin with? Hopefully, the front office goes out in the offseason and gets an ace. That's what I would like to see.
  15. Very interesting posts guys. Thanks for the great responses. Both players were elite. Does anyone here know or can confirm whether the MLB logo is the shadow of Harmon? I once thought I heard Bremer say that the shadow on the logo is that of Harmon? Is this true?
  16. Wondering what you all think about Harmon Killebrew and Kirby Puckett. Which one meant more to the Twins franchise and which one was more iconic to Baseball? I would say Kirby but I suppose that's because I am too young to have ever watched Harmon play. I think my Dad would say Harmon. He has told me a lot about watching on TV Harmon blasting homeruns when my Dad was in his teens in the 60s. My Dad told me how Killebrew would launch what should have been a single into the outfield and they sometimes were able to throw him out at first. But then he also mentions how Killebrew would hit such majestic homeruns into the stands. But, for me, Kirby was the greatest Twin. When I wasn't trying to emulate Wade Boggs at the hot corner, I would always take the first pitch in honour of Kirby. I loved Kirby's enthusiasm for the game and I appreciated his loyalty to our team. From what I understand, he had a chance to go to his hometown team, White Sox, whom I dislike intensely, but he wanted to re-sign with the Twins! In my opinion, Kirby tried harder than 99 per cent of all players who ever played the game in history. I really appreciated him because the outcome of the game really did matter to him. I cannot stand when I see players smiling after a bitter loss and joking around while us fans are in mourning. Well, with Kirby, the game mattered to him and I appreciated that about him!
  17. I've been thinking of the Target Field blues lately. What do you guys think is the main reason why the Twins have struggled at home this year as well as in most of Target Field's history? Honestly, for as long as the ballpark has been open, I can only think of a handful of good memories made in the park and it has always been an ominous place to play. When the Dome was open, I felt really good when we were going back to the Dome for a homestand. That feeling has never been there for me in Target Field's history. I'm sure our record was pretty good in 2010 at home and last year's home record was decent but I generally do not know the records from the time it has opened. All I know is the place has a bad aura for me, always has. I sometimes feel like the air raid sirens and loud music during at bats might actually distract some of our hitters. That's all I can come up with. It would distract me.
  18. As many on this board know, I usually fly off the handle every time we lose a series, NOT THIS ONE! We faced Giolito and Super Nova in this series. It was predictable. You lose to a guy like Giolito, it's not frustrating. At least not for me. That's why I said that Game two would be so vital. If we had lost last night, it would have been a train wreck. As it is, this was expected against the two hottest pitchers in baseball right now.
  19. Even though he pitches for one of my ultimate rivals, if anyone deserved a standing ovation, it's Lucas Giolito. To do this to a historic offense, (yes I said historic), is beyond belief and it hasn't been done ALL YEAR LONG. If this guy doesn't win a Cy Young in his career it will be the crime of the century.
  20. Giolito-Probably top 5 best in AL right now.
  21. Or maybe Acuna wanted to help his team out a bit and realized that the team could be really good for a long time if he didn't hamstring them with an absurd contract. If that is the case, I would rather have Acuna than Trout any day.
  22. I personally don't see any reason for the fuss about Cruz's age being 39 and putting up these numbers. Has Cruz ever hit in a lineup like this in his career? I don't even have to look at all of his years in Baseball to know that the answer to that question is no! This lineup is perhaps one of the greatest lineups ever constructed. I really don't believe that is an exaggeration.
  23. If that is so, then they need to change the title of the award to AL Best Player of the Year award or something like that. As far as MVP is concerned, Cruz has turned this lineup/this team into a wrecking ball that I have never witnessed in my entire life!!! When we faced the Angels, was I afraid? No. If we had to face a lineup like the Twins would I be afraid? Yeppers! Cruz is not the only reason but he is the number one reason for this franchise completely turning around. If we don't re-sign him or exercise the option or whatever it would be a crime against humanity. Definitely, I would say Cruz should be MVP, in my opinion!
