    Yeah, this is something I just cannot agree with or even come to comprehend as being a serious thought. It is just another built in excuse for the Twins continuing to fail to sign legitimate, organizational changing type players via FA.

    I mean, based on what people are saying about Minnesota and how terrible it is to live and raise a family in. Give me a break - this is a culture thing. Teams can't take the Twins serious because of how they have handled free agency in the past. Oh, and if they aren't going to be players in FA because of it being something that the player has to also agree to, then you go out and make a damn trade to BRING a guy to Minnesota where he has no choice. You force the hand, and stop sitting on these "prospects" that, more often than not, are never going to pan out. These excuse based articles, and continued support of the Twins and their lack of involvement in free agency should piss off any Twins fan that is legit about their team competing for a World Series.

    TBH, I am surprised ANY free agent chooses Minnesota, given how horrible it is to live in Minnesota.

    Exactly. There is no way the Twins are supposedly "engaged" on all these guys, and don't land a single one. Their level of "engagement" must be quite different than other teams.

    But Dobnak is better than we think! Just look at his minor league numbers, and incredibly SSS at the major league level.

    The Twins already have enough fringe options to fill those roster spots. Why waste time going after external options?

    I like Audra Martin. Can't wait to see these two guys turn into MLB All-Stars though!

    Which says all that needs to be said about this front office, ownership, etc. If players don't see this place as desirable and a place to come to, where the heck do you think the issue starts?

    Exactly - Martin Perez isn't going to help this team. None of the guys mentioned above will do so, either.

    Exactly. How are any of these guys going to change the issues that face the Twins? The Twins don't need anymore 4th or 5th starters. I don't understand why that needs to be said again...and again, and again.

    Again, that is not what I am arguing. It is all relative - if the rest of the FA crop is less than desirable, of course he will rank higher. Point being, again - Lance Lynn was never going to come in and change the dynamic of the Twins and their postseason chances/ability to win a World Series. If you cannot see this, well, then so be it. Guys like Cole, Strasburg, etc....THOSE guys move the needle. The Lance Lynn's of the world, they do not.

    OK? It is all relative. In no way, shape, or form was Lance Lynn considered a "top FA" by all standards. He wasn't someone that was going to come in and change the Twins postseason fortunes, etc.

    The type of Twins risk is re-signing a guy who may get caught taking PED's again. That is what the Twins consider as "taking a risk."

    The Twins are who we thought they were. Anyone surprised by the Twins not involving themselves in high priced players (don't give me the "They are supposedly in on Bum & Ryu" non-sense) are as gullible as it gets. We will get to enjoy Alex Wood and some 4th starter from the Marlins or Mariners in 2020. Can't wait!

    Isn't that a problem in and of itself? That players, free agents, DON'T want to come to Minnesota, no matter the years and money? Sorry pal, but that is an issue. It shouldn't be looked at as some comforting excuse or reason why the Twins can't land what people consider the "top" free agent(s) available.

    This would be your typical Minnesota Twins move - take someone off the scrap heap, who just got non-tendered by the CINCINNATI REDS, and make them your highlight of the winter thus far. Seriously, how can you people get behind ideas like this after watching the Twins's starting pitching take an absolute dump in the ALDS this past season?

    Face the reality people - the Twins will never, EVER give a pitcher the type of contract that it takes to land a front end of the rotation starter. Nev-er.

    Welcome to the new age of ballparks. A lot of places have started to go the route of Dodger Stadium, which I think is a pretty cool atmosphere. But I get the traditional sense and think that should still be part of the game day experience.

    I am willing to say that this is the most important off-season in Twins history.

    That is because the Twins refused to attack these guys (especially Judge) and throw them competitive pitches in general.
