  1. I'm heading down to Hennepin Avenue right now to put my blanket down on the parade route.
  2. Honestly, the most impressive thing this franchise has done in the last 20 years has been conditioning the fan base to constantly lower its expectations. By not trading away prospects, they can always use them as the carrot in front of fans' faces as hope for the future.
  3. When you ask for a Super Nintendo and your parents get you a TurboGrafix 16
  4. Conspiracy Theory: A small part of the reason for this change is less foul balls/bats into the stands and into the "Game-used" booth where they can sell for $50-100 each.
  5. Agreed. As recently as yesterday, the Twins were listed among the strong possibilities, so it seems as though we have dropped out. A report is just a report, anything could still happen, but Olney is pretty good and I feel like this means the Twins have dropped out of the bidding.
  6. Per Buster Olney at ESPN (posted this morning), the Phillies are the front-runners for Wheeler. The Reds, White Sox and Rangers are also mentioned as possibilities. "The bidding for right-hander Zack Wheeler continues to progress toward resolution, with the Philadelphia Phillies seen by sources as the most potent bidders -- and the Reds, White Sox and Rangers also involved." 7. I think it's awful, but like most things in today's game of baseball it wasn't made with me (37-year-old balding old dude) in mind.
  8. Kiriloff. Let's just go for it, if he struggles send him down. No one could have predicted Arraez's breakout, sometimes all it takes is a shot.
  9. I'm glad that Falvine got good minor leaguers in their trades in 2018, but I can't help but think that Escobar and Pressley would have looked real good on last year's team.
  10. Lynn 2017:(StL) 11-8, 3.43 Lynn 2018:(MIN) 7-8, 5.10 Lynn 2018: (NYY) 3-2, 4.14 Lynn 2019: (TEX) 16-11, 3.67 Yes, the Twins were the ones who fixed him.
  11. Among the pitchers we haven't "fixed": Anibal Sanchez, Mike Pelfrey, Martin Perez, Kevin Corriea, Hector Santiago, Tommy Milone, Ricky Nolasco, and Lance Lynn. On the other hand, Odorizzi.
  12. Per the picture above, I'm a little concerned with the nipple growing out of his elbow.
  13. I know stats and analytics are as hot as Hansel right now, but Gibson just doesn't pass the eye test for me, personally. It's a slog to make it through one of his starts. He's an awesome guy, and not a bad pitcher, but I personally would like to move on from the Gibson experience.
  14. Cutting commercials is the only way to actually speed up the game, but we all know that will never happen, so instead we are going to change the way the game of baseball is played. When is enough, enough? We are bombarded with ads on the ribbon boards, outfield walls, billboards in the stadium, ads in-stadium between innings, behind home plate, on the dugouts and more I can't think of. That says nothing about the endless ads during the broadcasts. Somehow, the Premier League (soccer) makes the 3rd most revenue of any sport in the world (MLB is 2nd, in their defense) without stopping the game at all for commercials.
  15. I'm fine with this, as long as the umpires get a big ol' jowl that flaps in the wind like Joe West's does.
  16. The Twins will do what they always do, keep him as long as he's cheap then let him walk for next to nothing.
  17. Hi Travis, Per your intro, do you know why you were supposed to tell the Twins you were not interested?
  18. This is the first time I have regretted clicking on an article at Twins Daily. Paddack and Kershaw? You guys are way better than this.
  19. I think we should try Sano in right field. What's the worst that could happen?
  20. Do the Pohlads still own the team? Yes? Then the financial resources are indeed scarce.
  21. Why was it a savvy move? He had one good year and still had two years left on his contract. They signed him with the lowest leverage they could possibly have had at that point!
  22. Yes, by all means lets use a chunk of our scarce financial resources on an aging player with a long injury history coming off of a suspension! We can just count on his career-best 2019 season is the new normal, and give him a multi-year contract, just like Phil Hughes! Who's with me! Pineda was a nice story for part of the year, but unless he's willing to take a team-friendly deal (and really, why should he), we can move on.
  23. This is so accurate. Sure, Odorizzi and Pineda were fine, but there's certainly room to upgrade, specifically on Odo if his price gets too high. I'm tired of all the excuses for Gibson. He's not a bad pitcher, but he's 32 years old. Why he still gets treated like some prospect who might still figure it out is baffling. Spot on for Berrios. I keep hoping for this big step forward but it's the same old same. Again, not a bad pitcher at all but expectations are too high for him.
  24. The only reason the Twins would trade Rosario is so they don't have to pay him what he's worth.
