  1. In NY State it seemed like not a lot of young guys were joining leagues after the 1990s, so the leagues kind of aged out.
  2. I played in fastpitch leagues in the 1980s-1990s in the Hudson Valley. Having enough pitchers for a league was always a problem. It's a great game -- nothing like beer league softball!
  3. Kind of off topic, but Joe Jackson had 12 hits in the 1919 World Series, committed no errors and threw out a runner at the plate. Folks should read "Eight Men Out" to get a complete look at the 1919 Black Sox scandal.
  4. Have to chuckle at the Chevy "Heart of America" commercial. The background music is "Copperhead Road" by Steve Earle, which is a song about a drug runner.
  5. Lots of good comments here. I would just add that Falvey's weakness has been in drafting/developing position players. Our current roster can't hit much, can't field, and is not very athletic.
  6. If the game becomes a blowout we can at least keep an eye on the MLB strikeout race, with two of the top four playing in this game: Strikeout Leaders McMahon, Col 44 Toglia, Col 43 Devers, Bos 42 Buxton, Min 41
  7. Provus said that Rocco told him he is just trying everyone at leadoff to see if someone can run with it.
  8. Stolen bases in MLB are as high as they have been since 1915. Not controlling the running game is another "in the margins" area the FO is failing at. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-stolen-bases-highest-in-109-years
  9. Nothing says shutdown reliever like a four-pitch walk to the first batter, then a wild pitch.
  10. The Twins might be better Ten Years After this season.
  11. The Twins might be better Ten Years After this season.
  12. The ESPN write-up is this: "The Twins ranked low last year, and I'll repeat what I said then: The team itself is probably better than this ranking, but there isn't a lot of glitz and glamour here. No big star (Carlos Correa's shine has dulled and Byron Buxton really never got there in the first place), no big masher, no speedster on the bases or must-see ace on the mound. The youth score will go up if Emmanuel Rodriguez and Luke Keaschall get called up -- which might be the case given the early struggles of the offense."
  13. FWIW, ESPN ranks the Twins 27th in MLB in terms of "watchability." Seems too high. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44629277/mlb-2025-rankings-most-fun-teams-watch-dodgers-red-sox-phillies-cubs-padres
  14. A walk and a HBP. This qualifies as a rally.
  15. Royals were hoping to get a tax to pay for a new stadium but the voters rejected the plan: https://apnews.com/article/chiefs-royals-kansas-city-stadiums-e9605296b85e91699441e4ba10e83212
  16. Not sure why Julien went into home head first, or whatever you call that slide. He made it easier to be tagged on the arm. How about a normal slide?
