    Please post the link to the account of throwing it across the room. All I see are a smashed cardboard box and the very vague word "unthinkable". Let me divine what I think happened: Cat bites or scratches Sam. Sam gets pissed and yells at the cat. Cat runs away and hides in the box. Sam states something like "You think you can hide from me in there" and destroys box to get cat out. Again, cats can be a-holes. Bad behavior = Probably Osuna or Hamilton behavior = No way

    I'm sorry, but a picture of smashed cardboard box just doesn't put this in the same category as say Josh Hamilton, who apparently isn't supposed to be called a horrible person on this site. Is there anything other than this tweet that depicts this incident? I have a hard time taking someone who tries to project themself as the cat seriously. I have a cat who can be kind of an a-hole from time to time. Who knows? Maybe Sam was relaxing and the cat came up and tried to "assert" himself with a nose bite or toe scratch. Smashing a cardboard box was probably better than smashing the cat. For all we know, Sam hates cats but made an exception. I hate mosquitos and react violently towards them. I know it's not the same, but then again, I don't see any injured cat photos. I'm calling this out as over-reaction and a social media attention grab until I see more information.

    I would be pleased if the Twins signed Avila. He'd be a solid option to team with Garver. Clippard would be a solid veteran add, if it was a one year deal. He might get two from someone else though. Rich Hill is interesting. His performance when available is still good, but you have to have a plan that assumes he won't be making 30 starts. The Twins just may have that with the lightly experienced group currently penciled into those last three rotation positions. I'd pass on the rest of the list. I don't understand all the replies mentioning players not listed in the article. The OP was clearly looking for opinions on the listed players.

    I would agree if they were playing the lion's share of games, but that just isn't the case anymore. Only a handful of catchers even qualified for leading average type statistics. Here is the list of FAs, and they are all over 30. They won't all get jobs, but the ones that do will still catch. These aren't bat first players.     Falvine dream at AAA. Just LRT those option arms back and forth all season. Hey, Dodgers, how you like them apples? Just don't let Sano ride the LRT, if he needs a rehab assignment at some point. He's be the guy that lacerates his other heel by getting a Target shopping cart smashed into him by some oncoming rider at the University/Snelling stop.

    Anyone who predicts future value off a combination of past performance and factors likely to affect future performance is using some kind of forecasting tool. It doesn't have to be a piece of software. It could be an organic tool.

    You've mentioned six players who have produced one season among all of them with an OPS+ higher than the 151 that Cruz has averaged over the last fives seasons, despite his advanced baseball age. Only Sano and Garver have had a season that tops his lowest output over those 5 seasons. You suggest production could be close. I'm not sure what forecasting tool your using, but it probably needs another pass through QA. As far as nights off go, Cruz will likely take his own rest days or just be sent to the IL for a spell, so there should be 20-30 games that aren't interleague road games for some other guys to get half a night off.

    You know what else has been in existence for years, the Redskins, Chief Wahoo, James Bonde movies, etc., but many (including many on this site) want them to go away. Why? Because they are seen by those people as disrespectful. It doesn't matter how long something has been around. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. Just admit it, the Celebrity Death Pool is fun for you. Someone scoring points at the expense of Fatima Ali is all just a game. Shannen Doherty's breast cancer taking her life is decent bet. I don't think it was or is a game for them respectfully. How about this? Just keep playing your game. However, let those who want to call out a silly roster idea call it for what is it. Unless, of course, Wax On is somehow more deserving of respect than people like Ms. Ali and Ms. Doherty.

    Yes, and I was chided as being disrespectful and chiding. I could understand if I had said or linked something that actually attacked the poster. Linking something that calls a horrible idea what it is doesn't seem out of line. The thread is still out there about signing Grandal and trading Cruz sans my link.

    I have to agree with others on Littell. He's been eye-opening out of the bullpen. If the starter acquisitions take some form like you are suggesting, I think the Twins will have enough depth with Graterol, Thorpe, Dobnak and Smeltzer to cover those early season starts or provide depth beyond the fifth guy. The rest of the plan is great. Nice work.

    Just to clarify ... I suggested that trading Nelson Cruz was a horrible idea by linking an Office Space clip. The OP was not humorously suggesting trading Nelson Cruz. The OP was serious about considering it. How is saying that that idea is horrible disrespectful? How is it a personal attack? How is it trolling? How is it flame-baiting?

    But SOME of them are still hypocrites. Humorously suggesting that trading Nelson Cruz would be a horrible idea is disrespectful, yet dehumanizing people by scoring points from their deaths is all fun and games. I agree with AZTwin. There is an agenda. Something like "Heil Traffic".

    Why not look at the 1B position to make this work instead of taking the best hitter out of the lineup? Cruz' salary isn't going to create an OR situation. It's a one year deal that's very team friendly considering the production.

    Even at Cruz' advanced age and as excited as I am about the future of Mitch Garver, it's not even a close call for me to pick whose production I'd feel more comfortable penciling in pre-season. Garver took a huge step last season, but I'd like to see him at least make a run at repeating that OPS. Cruz on the other hand does it year after year after year. I'm open to a plan that nets Grandal, but it probably isn't one that the Pohlad's will likely be comfortable writing checks to support. I definitely don't think any plan that comes at the expense of Nelson Cruz is a good idea. He was 9th in MVP voting after playing 75% of the games and 0% of defensive innings. That is how valuable his bat is to the lineup. Sorry, no, just no.
