  1. Who do you see them pursuing? I'll say Wheeler maybe?
  2. I think maybe he is referring to this entire story and the ensuing comments.
  3. Maybe they might want to keep their financial flexibility.......
  4. Mets offered him 4/60 and many posters on rumors site were ripping his agency and him for not taking it. He instead winds up with 5/91.25. Good move for Grandal and also for CWS I'm betting. Now, lets hope the Twins get 2 better than Berrios SP's. If not I can see the Sox as being the team that can very quickly slam our "window" shut.
  5. Hmmm, then maybe Rooker, Jax and Blankenhorn is plenty to offer........
  6. That's a solid proposal and I think you are correct on the quality. I don't think we're getting Gray for bench guys and a flamed out prospect like Romero. Pittsburgh got hosed. With Archer as well. That helps explain why they have a new GM.
  7. You may have to part with a top 10 prospect just to get another team to take him. Duran and Cruz packaged together for salary relief.
  8. Why would Archer cost more than Gray? If I had a choice I'd easily go Gray. As I said Archer is intriguing. But the truth is lately he has flat out stunk.Just cuz the Pirates paid too much for him does not make him a better get. Pirates better keep Archer I guess and hope he's a world beater. If the Twins give up much more for him than they did for Odo there should be some major outrage.
  9. Archer intrigues me. What would he cost prospect wise? Would say Edwar Colina get it done? Or is that too much? Another off year for Archer and he'll make 9mil. It sounds like the Pirates might be in for a fire sale. It'd be interesting to see if a deal for Archer and Josh Bell could be reached.
  10. Us fans want to see some major moves the worst way, but this teams history would point otherwise. I also want to see a major splurge. But my hunch says it will be a resigning of Pineda, and internal for spot 5 and internal for Pineda while he serves the suspension. I could see them signing a guy for depth and insurance. Someone along the lines of Teheran or Roark if their markets are a little cold. Innings eaters. Falvey's biggest splurge was Castro at 3/24 and Addison Reed at 2/17 and the extensions to Polanco and Kepler. I'd love to see Cole or Wheeler or Ryu. But call me a skeptic until proven otherwise.
  11. Based on your proposal to trade Cruz and move Garver to DH and sign Grandal to catch, no the lineup isn't as good. It also set us back financially. Grandal is looking for a longterm deal for 16-18mil per year. Cruz is working for 12mil in 2020. DH by committee by and large does not work as well as one guy, like Cruz, who has embraced the role either. btw, Cole is likely my pipe dream, but he's the best available and who I'd most like to see at the top of our rotation. But will it happen? The old saying is slim and none and none just walked out the door. But I'll repeat it, Keep Cruz.
  12. Signing Grandal for more millions than Cruz is getting won't help in pursuing high end SP's though. For 2020 give Garver more playing time at C. Sign a cheap backup for Garver that can play a couple of times a week. For years the Twins played the DH by committee game and it didn't work. Sano will likely be our full time DH by 2022, if they can convince him to an extension.
  13. With a rotation of Ryu and Berrios at the top followed by Odorizzi and Pineda, Boyd even though he is Detroit's Ace he would be our #5. Yes to Boyd but no for Larnach. But that in my estimation would be a great rotation.
  14. I like the idea of Ryu and resigning Pineda. I also like trading for Boyd. But Larnach is too high a price imo for a guy that has built a mediocre resume. Granted his teams have been awful. More like Javier and Jeffers and throw in another wildcard prospect from the low minors. If I'm trading Larnach or Kiriloff its for more than a #4 SP.
  15. And when your goal is to win it all and you have the present lineup to win it all you don't discard that for a prospect who may or may not help you in 5 years. Sign Cole and Ryu. Keep Cruz.
  16. Unless Cruz totally falls apart, which could happen of course, he's probably worth about the same the end of July as now. So the door isn't closed if they wanted to move him then. But couldn't we also say "sell high" on Garver also?
  17. Avisail Garcia would be a solid replacement for Rosario were Eddie traded. And yes, part of the reason to be in on Cole and Strasburg is to make the winning teams pay more. If it isn't us.
  18. Don't trade Cruz. I believe Garver is for real on offense. But trading Cruz will significantly weaken this team. I want to win big in 2020. That has a greater chance of happening with Cruz, not Grandal. I could be persuaded to sign Donaldson or Moustakis and move Sano to 1B. But dumping Cruz? No. Sign Gerritt Cole. Leave the lineup to F alone.
  19. My sentiments. 2020 is not the year to start selling off the pieces we've been waiting for for the past decade. That includes Sano and Buxton as well. Sign Cole or Strasburg. And Ryu and have a great rotation. We don't need steps backward.
  20. I would prefer that myself. My concern would be is if Sano is ready for 1B yet.
  21. Everything I read is the Mets will not be trading Syndegard. I don't think that would be near enough either even if they would deal him.
  22. I honestly think the entire lineup is brought back. I see them trying to resign Cron at his 2019 salary, or he tries to test the market. I also see a resigning of Castro. Rosario will stay, he's not bringing a headline SP so why create a hole where their is none? I read where they maybe interested in bringing Perez back too. They do need to acquire a couple of SP's I see one being a FA signing, Pineda/Hamels types, and one by trade of some minor league depth. Likely for prospects who are just outside the Top10, an Odorizzi type trade of 2018. My hunch is the moves this winter will not be as major as everyone hopes they'd be.
  23. 3. I have no problem pursuing a Betts trade. You get a year to work out an extension. But Kiriloff being in the deal would make it a very poor one for the Twins. Rosario and Gordon would be fair at this point. Red Sox would be getting a replacement in Rosario and a prospect for Betts and much needed salary relief. 2, That's what Twins fans get to do is dream. Cuz we have zero history of top FA signings or blockbuster trades.
  24. Who then would you propose Tom? What I would hate to see is us overpay in trade for a proven commodity, Robbie Ray is one example that comes to my mind. Or continuing to fill our rotation with dregs such as Martin Perez. Hopefully we can sign a Cole or a Wheeler along with a Pineda or a Hamels and feel at ease about the rotation.
  25. Cooper seems to allude to a forthcoming extension for Betts. Might make things pretty interesting if we had him around here for 5 seasons.
