  1. No one is going to feel sorry for the veterans not getting work. Teams are going to plug a young guy in for $500k vs signing someone like Cargo or Jones for $5 million. Why not take a chance on a young guy verses hoping the old vet doesn't break down.
  2. Similar teams that take big jumps, have a few guys go from unknown yet to stars. It has been awhile since we had a pitcher do that. Would love to see someone like Litrel be a guy that claims a spot and dominates
  3. I miss 10-11 man pitching staffs. Would rather have an extra bat than carry a mop up pitcher
  4. IF Gordon has a great year, does this move Polanco to 3B?
  5. Love Max's swing! Now it is time for him to be a bit more aggressive at the plate. He is set for the rest of his life, now go out and have some fun
  6. Excited to see his bat over a full season! If the hit tool is as good as everyone says, he will be right up there with Lewis a year from now.
  7. I haven't seen Rooker play, but that K number is very alarming. For those that have seen him, is he not patient and just swings at too many bad pitches? Or does he just have too many holes in his swing?
  8. The Cardinals have so many more die hard fans, it isn't even a comparison. Would the Twins ever take over a city, like the Cards do when they play the Cubs? Maybe if we had 35,000 plus at Target Field for every game we could start a comparison. Theoretically we should be able to compare with them, but we are light years away IMO.
  9. Very good read! I too hope for some patience in seeing if the coaches can help him develop a solid 3rd pitch. A solid #2/3 is more valuable IMO that a RP.
  10. I would entertain extending Gibson on a fair 3 year deal. Something around 3 years $36m
  11. Prospects need to be partially looked at as assets. I am not against adding an All-star catcher, but are we at that point? If we had one more sure thing at SP and fewer questions about Bux and Sano, then I'd be all in for a trade. From a GM standpoint, you also have to get talent when you can.
  12. One bad stretch can wreck a RPs stats for the year. So you have to look beyond the stays. Hildy has gotten hit hard for a few months and wasn't good finishing 2017 either. He is nothing more than a middle inning guy to me. I want to believe that May can do it, but that is probably the MN Homer in me thinking that. Reed was awesome last year, hope it is a trend. Some young guys deserve an extended shot. That being said, I don't see a closer on this staff. Hope they put some money out there for a FA that can battle for the closers job
  13. Drew Pomeranz interests me on a make good deal with an option year. He is a year removed from a very good season and is only 30.
  14. If the Twins like someone that is available, who do you think would get removed from the 40 man?
  15. Can Austin be sent down to work on that swing? We are already a low OPS team, only way he gets 300+ ABs is if Sano and Cron are horrible.
  16. Cardinals have had success starting younger guys in the pen and then transitioning them to SP later on. But as of now I have no clue how the rotation will shake out. Will we 3 traditional SP and 2 Openers? Would being a primary pitcher help Romero? His arm is talented and we need to get it on the major league staff for a complete year.
  17. Big fan of Arraez hit tools. If not for that knee injury, I think we would have seen him up this year. Not a great glove, so that probably plays into the GMs sabermetric thoughts
  18. Analytics is one thing, but as a coach it also comes down to working with egos, motivation and communication. All of these young guys come with great respect, so I will wait to pass judgement.
  19. Impressive list of minor Leaguers! I don't remember a team coming close to having that many B- or higher rankings from Sickels. One of my favorite bats is Luis Arraez, wounder if the front office would give him strong considerations in the spring for the open 2B job?
  20. Mejia seems like a guy that could benefit from an opener in front of him. He often time is sitting with high pitch counts in the 5th or 6th and rarely goes beyond that. He has some nasty stuff that needs to be harnessed to become a true starter
  21. Astudillo and Cave are 2 keepers for next year. Kepler better watch out or Cave will take away a bunch of ABs
  22. Grossman is a nice bench bat, not someone that is an everyday player. If we head into 2019 expecting Robbie to be a key bat I will be extremely frustrated. Also tired of the media types whining about Buxton. He didn't come ready to play in 2018, the Twins owe him nothing! If he had been raking like last September and the wrist wasn't a lingering issue, then he could be mad.
