  1. Well, unfortunately, I think you would have to throw him into fire immediately and hope like hell it pays off quickly. Maybe I didn't throw enough change into the wishing well for that to happen, but you never know. Other than that, I think the Twins are stuck with what they have and that is a bummer.
  2. Ideally, that is what should happen. In a perfect world you want to leave Berrios alone and let him do his deal, which is starting. Unfortunately, from my perspective, the Twins have no more answers/band aids to put on the wound that is our bullpen and oddly enough this club still has a chance. Not that I know the definite answer to what I am about to say - I would imagine that the Twins have him on a pitch count this season and this might be good way to wind down his season and get him some big league exposure. If Berrios was a prima donna or a high maintenance player, I would not consider it, but from all reports I have read or heard, it sounds like he is an over the top worker and for lack of a better term a baseball soldier. In my opinion, because of Berrios' makeup, I do not think this would set him back, I think he would embrace the challenge and still be on track to help us out in the rotation in 2016.
  3. Sorry if I am repeating something someone said, but for now, May is the right one for the bullpen gig - as long as they use him in high leverage situations. I enjoyed him for the most part as a starter and I still believe that is where his future lies. This ball club is hanging on by a thread, and I certainly do not see May being the savior, but he can be of great help. We need more help. It is time for Berrios to become a part of the back end of our bullpen. We need swings and misses and if it doesn't work out, at least we tried to put the right people in those positions to get the desired end outcome.
  4. I do not believe the Twins Org to have the guts to demote Mauer in the line-up. Unfortunately, as far as middle of the line-up hitters - we are pretty much stuck with what we have. Sano has made a difference. I think May needs to have another shot at the starting rotation, but not this year. Use him, use him, use him! He has the stuff and arm to be a good end of the game reliever… and bring up Berrios and see what he can bring to the pen. This may be a bit off topic - but I don't believe Ryan should lose his job. I would like it if the Twins hired Jerry Dipoto as an Assistant GM. Ryan will hang it up as GM within the next 3 years and Dipoto is a lot more trustworthy than Anthony or Krivsky. Dipoto did not get a chance to implement his ideas in the Anaheim Angels Org because of that org's disfunction. Scoscia is the boss in that town. I like Dipoto and believe him to be a good baseball mind. Terry Ryan could give him his insight on how Twins organization works and Dipoto could in turn, lend his ideas. When the torch is passed after a few years, Jerry will have the Twins insight and he can implement his concept on how a baseball team should operate. This is a mid-market team. I think this is the kind of job he wants.
  5. This comment is lame. There is no need to be a smart ass to someone who is trying to be optimistic and is the head moderator Einstein.
  6. Obviously, Iwakuma was awesome today. It was great to see Doz hit a HR off of him and give us a shot at taking this game, but when these situations arise it appears the Twins need to strike fast and take advantage of their fortunes. If it is drawn out, our bullpen will always lose the game of Tug-O-War. I'm still hoping for the best and cheering these guys on, but at the same time, I cannot lie to myself and think this thing is going to work out for the best. They need to get Berrios into the bullpen mix, and that might not work out, but at this juncture, I believe that to be the only chip we have left on the table.
  7. He's welcome to it. After this game, that is what I see myself doing at 7:00pm Monday-Saturday, and 1:00pm on Sundays.
  8. Dave, Hunter has been very good this year. This team is filled with a bunch of streaky hitters… that is what we have and T-Hunt is in a semi-slump right now - he will find his mojo again. His defense has been passable. Why don't you ever complain about Mauer? Mauer is a shell of his former self. As a first baseman he is almost an embarrassment, which I hate to say because I want to believe in him still. If you are to compare Hunter and Mauer it is not even close. At this juncture Hunter is the better player by a good amount. I curse you for putting me in a position where I had to put these 2 players side by side. Too much reality sucks… but it is the truth.
  9. Paul has got to stop pinch running for our elite hitters when it is a close game in the 8th or 9th. You might have another 5 innings on your hands. Sano is an athletic fella… leave him alone. That is not a bitch fest, but just an irritant. P.S. Hunter is a very good player still folks, for all of you instant gratification people out there, he is a big part of why we are 5 games over .500. Arcia lost out, it was not his year. He was outplayed and that is the bottom dollar. Put it together anyway you want and it is not justified. He will be nice to have as a pinch hitter in September that is that. Great F'in Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Especially today, we need to win this one. In honor of the the 50th Anniversary of our 1965 World Series Team, I must raise the "Flag of Our Fathers"!
  11. Come on Trev. You couldn't honor your new born with a HR. I am insulted by your triple. You are a bad dad.
  12. Sorry about the delay. I am a fan of Kaat and I wanted to hear what he had to say.
  13. I thought Sano was suppose to hit a HR there. I must have read the script wrong. Stupid writers.
  14. It's nice to see an optimistic topic for a change. Hell, it's baseball, crazy stuff happens. We all know this team is capable of playing some good baseball and riding a hot streak. They are also capable of doing the opposite, but screw that negativity for today. It would be nice to get May back into the rotation, but if that doesn't happen put him in high leverage situations at the back end of the pen, he has the arm and stuff to be far superior to the other options other than Perkins. I can't imagine it would hurt Berrios' development to call him up very, very, very soon. Throw him in the pen and see if he can bring the hot sauce. Obviously, this would only be a temporary move for this season and I imagine he is on a pitch limit this year and this might be a good way to wind his season down and give him some exposure at the big league level. In my mind it's worth a shot.
  15. I'd be okay with Axford. He is nothing great or very good, but he would be an upgrade and would come at a friendly price. I don't understand the need for Cespedes though. The outfield is going good for the most part and we have some guys waiting in line who have some upside. Why would you trade for Cespedes? A flawed, over priced, but talented baseball player who in all actuality would not improve our ball club in a game changing way. That seems like throwing away high upside prospects for a 2 month rental of (Yawn).
  16. This is going to sound preposterous, but playing in Seattle the last 8 years seems to crush the souls of position players offensively and I always chalked it up to the climate/environment. Sure the marine environment probably has something to do with it, but it has been 80+ degrees there for the last 4 months... and a lot of 90 degree days. They are breaking records heat wise. Offensively, that place is cursed. I am not even going to make a prediction, but make a guarantee that as long as Ackley plays in the Bronx, he will be a 15HR, .280BA, .350OBP player. I love Seattle (the city), but damn, I would not want to be a position player for their home town team. Cano and Drano are very similar, the latter will dominate the former's career from this point on. Down the toilet. FLUSH!!!
  17. Adam Walker is a high end, can't miss prospect.
  18. Thanks for saying that North. It was becoming unbearable. I hope it stops for a little bit.
