  1. I know better than to get in a debate with you Levi. That's your field of expertise, not mine. I understand that the meat industry in this country treats consumable animals like products and an end resource. I've seen and read about it with the poultry industry and I am sure it is not too handsome within the beef industry, etc., etc. - maybe that is a conversation for right now, maybe it is best left for another day? I think there is a dose of hypocrisy in almost any topic one can bring up. I can't imagine you want extremely endangered animals to go extinct. Unfortunately, it won't be stopped because it is Africa. Poor countries, corrupt governments, revolutions, exploiting resources (which this event falls into all of the aforementioned). We had the Wild, Wild West - They have the Wild, Wild East... it's a problematic continent and we can spread the blame around for ever if we choose to do so. I brought this up, only because it is a shame that no one has any control to stop it. Some semi-wealthy ******* dentist, named Walter Palmer from a Minneapolis suburb has the power to kill endangered animals without much more than the U.S. dollar. It's not about pretty or exotic animals. It means more than that.
  2. To start out, I am no member of PETA, I like myself a steak, pork chop, etc. - Although ignorant to the culture of standard American Hunting (Deer, Grouse, Duck, etc., etc.), I would imagine in a lot of cases it is beneficial because of population numbers and the hunters use the product of their hunting successes. This, on the other hand, is a disappointment to say the least: http://heavy.com/news/2015/07/walter-palmer-minnesota-dentist-hunter-killed-cecil-the-lion-dead-shot-zimbabwe-illegal-arrested-photos-video-cubs-theo-bronchorst-trymore-ndlovu/ What the hell is going through a person's mind that it is a good thing to go big game hunting and kill an animal that will probably not exist on this planet in 25 years (zoos maybe)? Is the thrill of the hunt that addicting? If you are wealthy and have money to burn, is this a status symbol badge one wears on their sleeve? Bloomington based dentist, Walter Palmer is a f'ed up dude. Based on photos that are in the link I have attached and photos I have seen in different articles on this subject, he did not lose his big game hunting virginity to Cecil the Lion - not even close. Does the guy think he is a modern day Teddy Roosevelt? If Teddy Roosevelt lived today, I think he would probably be ashamed of his conquests and be a leading champion to preserve these magnificent creatures who's numbers are dwindling by the day. I hope Walter Palmer is not your dentist... what a waste of a human. Freeze his assets, send him back to Zimbabwe penniless, and let that country determine his punishment.
  3. The Angels are a good but not great team, the Twins are not as good, but are not far behind. A different league is pushing it a bit too far - Plouffe will be a super star!!!!!!!!!!! (Just thought I'd razz ya a bit.) I actually am surprised at the negativity that has in some ways encompassed this season. To be honest it is a drag. For some reason, I thought there would be a thick amount of unity with the end result the Twins have given to this point. I have enjoyed my time on this site, but miss the solidarity of taking it in myself and the occasional conversations I have with my non-website friends on the topic of Twins baseball, which are more subdued and a friend talking to a friend. This site is great, but it will always be contentious, no matter if times are good or times are bad. I really believe, if the Twins won the World Series this year, negative posts would still be thick in the offseason and in spring training of the upcoming season. When the Twins sucked it seemed like this was a better forum to be on - solidarity in hard times I would surmise. Now, It is disjointed and not so much fun as a winning team. Too much BS... time to step away for a bit.
  4. You have seen me in person. Learn from my mistakes.
  5. Well, since a few choice theme songs were already used for Sano's return - I am going to have to lean on an old standard that I use to listen to/watch as a young-mid teenager with my grandparents.
  6. July 22, 2015 and the Twins are 7 games over .500. Sure, the last 3 games have been no picnic, and like so many before me on this topic have said "That's just baseball' or "These streaks happen to all teams". They are of course correct in those statements. It's not a requirement to watch this team if the Twins' play disgusts one to the extent that it seems to have disgusted some of you. 7 games over .500 on 7-22-15 and FSN will be the station my television is turned to at 9:00pm this evening.
  7. Chief, you are spot on. To add to this - Berrios is doing very well this year for the most part and because of his probable pitch count limit, he will not have a start for the big club this year. My hope, was to see him called up in August or September to see if he could be a neutralizing force in the bullpen... swing and miss stuff baby! If they will not use May in those situations right now, and I suspect he'd figure out how to be good at it, there is no way they would give Berrios a shot at it. Hell Adam Wainwright was a bullpen star when the Cards won the WS in 2006 and ended up becoming one of best starting pitchers in MLB after the fact. It is apparent the Twins have blind eyes for these kind of visions of having a strong starting pitcher prospect waiting for his turn and utilizing them in the bullpen and using them in high leverage situations. What a ****ing shame. I don't particularly like this thread, I certainly don't like what is going on in the bullpen. And I do not expect to see a change in the philosophy this season and it makes no damn sense. I would join the Islamic State before I would ever blame Molitor for this crap. Molitor's craftiness is one of the main reasons he became a HOF player, why he was a WS MVP. He did not lose this in the last 20 years, he is probably more engaged and informed than he has ever been... he knows Boyer and Fein are backend bullpen guys at best. What a drag.
  8. Since there has been a little name dropping going on. I remember my dad telling me we were 2nd cousins or something of that nature to the late, great Johnny Blanchard a few decades ago. http://caimages.collectors.com/psaimages/3976/06365452/1960Topps283JohnBlanchardPSA8452.jpg
  9. This is a piece I call the "Four Choices".
  10. Lenn Sakata
  11. I have not forgotten, I Iove his flamboyant style, he reminded me of a Matador playing baseball. When he gets into one it is awe inspiring! I love his Bravado and passion for doing something excellent on the field. But I really like what is going on in our OF right now, it is working. The only guy I could feasibly see him replacing is Hunter and that is not in the cards for the obvious reasons.
  12. I am going to assume that was meant for me. I am no where near ready to surrender my flag on this topic. I certainly admit that Arcia has skills that are very attractive, especially his power. I certainly respect your opinion and in time we will find out who takes the prize. Either way, I hope they both succeed and deliver the goods.
  13. I really don't know what to say about Arcia. It does seem that our memories are very short. The first month of the season our OF defense was awful and to add on to what I just said, that was a humongous gripe all of last off season, especially after the Hunter signing. I thought people were making too much of a deal about... I was dead wrong. The outfield defense is damn important, especially for this club after surviving the experience of April, 2015. What we have going on now in the OF is working damn well and since they called up Sano to be the regular DH, the offense has improved. I get it that some of you don't like some of Rosario's peripherals, but you can't be disappointed by the results. He strikes out a lot and doesn't walk all that much, but the guy looks as cool as a cucumber at the plate and he delivers, it most definitely appears that his confidence is that of a ballplayer who is not overwhelmed and feel he belongs. Certainly, I am not an expert on the development of players as I surmise most who post here are in that same boat. Rosario has some pop, and in 2 years time, he could be a 20HR hitter with an .800OPS. (it's not out of the realm of possibility). Certainly his book has not been completely written as of yet and I can envision some good things happening for Rosario. I hope it turns out great. If it is not broken right now, why fix it? As for Arcia, sure, he still has tremendous hitting potential, but the young man is going to be waiting in line for a while if our current outfield remains healthy - which Arcia has had trouble doing.
  14. Brian Dozier this, Brian Dozier that... man it grows tiresome. In all seriousness, I am very happy for him (HR). He deserves the exposure and accolades and in a smaller way the Twins do also. Way to take advantage of your opportunity Mr. Dozier!
  15. I just want to say, that I am totally down for a Dog Birthday Party, and I hope to get out to LA in the near future and attend one of those parties with Glunn. Hopefully they are kickin' around that time, either way, I will be wintering in Glunn's backyard shed. Glunn, could you make sure you clear the Black Widow Spiders from your shed. I'll take care of the chickens.
  16. It's not a meme or anything, but when Glunn mentions a "Dog Birthday Party" on the game thread, that is when I am in my high heaven of Twins Daily.
  17. That series was just what the doctor ordered.
  18. Hey Brian. Do you got this one today or do you want me to take it?
  19. Have not caught up with the box score yet. But I like what I am seeing on the scoreboard. We are the Rapid Pit bulls chewing up the pathetic motor city kitties. There flesh tastes great!
  20. Thanks Brian. I very much appreciate it and I am humbled. Thank you for your support and for being a good friend.
  21. This is Dozier's world and I just live in it.
  22. Screw this **** - I am even going to throw the Rally Roger out there. This is unbelievable!
