    Last year we also picked our 2 catchers in the 10th and 11th round, they may have a player or two they are still willing to draft, but it wasn't necessary to spend much draft capital on. We are definitely going pitcher heavy though.

    Zebby Matthews next pick. Starting to get into their usual draft formula at this point. 6' 5" pitcher K/9 jumped up a lot this last year. This pick looks interesting.

    Jones was at the combine, had good strikeout totals and K/9. Might be something there to work with. Feels like we have been making more 8th round and later draft picks. Not to say they can't work out but the success of this draft is most likely going to come down to the first 2 picks. If they hit anything else we get from this draft will be gravy.

    Quite a few, mostly high school. There is still Malcolm more, a few others and then more college players rated around the 250 mark.

    These players just seem so so to me. Although it usually ends up being this way until they start playing. I definitely feel like they are putting more of their money resources into the top 2 players, which if they pan out is good. May not hit on as many other players throughout the draft as we have done like last year.

    Ortega blew up this year, becoming the 2nd baseman and one of the better hitters on the Vols team this year. He went from a small college to Tennessee. Basing this off of 1 year of stats but he definitely looks decent. Average at everything but has compact power and did this in the SEC. He has the chance at being a player.

    First thing I though of is someone named their kid off of the Friends show, Ross and his son Ben.

    Toughest team they played this year was Seton hall, otherwise played the likes of Wayne State. So basically played similar competition as Varland did with Concordia St. Paul, maybe slightly better competition. Looks like player of the year in the conference and was in the top 3 for most categories. LOL never mind, it is Seton Hill, not Seton Hall, wow. What the hell with trying to copy larger college names.

    I saw Notre Dame and I was interested, then saw it was Notre Dame college and he likely played extremely poor competition. Maybe something there.

    Brandon Birdsell if still available would be a smart pick to save money, he is a senior, can't go back again can he? Never mind only a junior but would probably sign to decent contract.

    I think we may have had something with Preillip at 8 before Lee fell to us. But Preillip was willing to still work something out with us.

    Why are people thinking Preilipp wouldn't sign? There is nothing to show this is a worry.

    They would do something like they did with Gross in 2019, take a college senior and only offer $10,000 bonus and save all the slot money. I think the Twins are honestly even steven today, and you won't see them trying to save money unless to go over slot on draft picks today.

    The odds are low but not that low. The Yankees are going to spend all their money on Judge. They will not pay for a shortstop. Boston does not necessarily need a shortstop as they just got Trevor Story for insurance. The only new team willing to pay for a shortstop is the Cubs, Los Angeles and ?????? There will be Correa, Turner, Swanson, and Bogarts. Someone is going to take a smaller deal than they would like.

    Lewis becomes more expendable if we can come to an agreement with Correa in the 3-5-7 year range.

    If we are truly the most likely team to get Montas then yes this is going to be painful on the prospect side with 2 to 3 major prospects. It will be more than what we received from Toronto for Berrios.

    The Twins may be happier with their depth in the minors at the C position than we are. Honestly for the most part they are performing very well.

    Ummmm did you follow this draft at all. All the top pitchers had major injury concerns. Kumar Rocker, Horton, Lesko and Priellepp. Was there someone else you thought they should have picked. As a note Rocker was picked before we even could have picked in the first round. As an aside we are not starved for pitching in the minor leagues. We just have to continue to develop them.

    Twins wouldn't have picked him had they not agreed. They have a contract in principle already agreed to. As much as the Twins liked Prielipp I think players are also really starting to like the Twins as a potential destination - especially if the money is good. The Twins can show players what they will do by showing Festa, Winder, Varland, Headrick, Raya, Mooney, Hajjar and Povich. Its not like they are developing just one player. They have shown a program that is developing a lot of players showing they have an excellent program in place. Prielipp could go back with nothing guaranteed, could get drafted lower, or he can go to the Twins, and put his best effort in and possibly become an Ace. He would also be a year closer to the big lifechanging contract assuming he pans out. He could flame out, but the talent is there to do well.
