Gallagher is a helium prospect like Matthews was last year. That some individuals have caught up to his current value doesn't mean he isn't a solid prospect. Plus at AA.
Gallagher is actually pretty solid. AA arm that has improved a ton this year. He has above average Fastball, Change up and Control. An Ok slider, a poor curveball. He has done really well, moving up levels this year, similar to Matthews. 2 Games and he has 1.59 ERA, 3.43 for the year. 10.26 SO/9. This is a legit prospect.
What have we truly lost so far?
We still have Lopez, Ryan, Ober. We have Jax, Sands, Varland. You have Buxton, Lewis, Jeffers, Lee. You have some pieces to build around.
Honestly - if we look at it legitimately, other than Correa, as of right now we are really only out Duran that is a significant piece for the next 2 years. Brock Stewart is decent but not a key cog or reliable. You put Brooks Lee back at short where he appears to feel more comfortable - our minor League is fairly well stocked, will increase our draft capital and we may be able to find some usuable pieces for the future in the next couple months. I wouldn't mind if Julien, Miranda, or Martin were able to reinvent themselves at the MLB level. The bullpen will be a bit of an issue.
Honestly, best thing that could happen for the organization. Now can put Lee at Short, Keashall at 2nd Lewis at 3rd. Try Julien or McCusker at 1st. Outfield, who knows, maybe Outman, Larnach and Buxton.
It only makes sense if he is Buxton insurance. Slash line in AAA is .289/.378/.592
Feels like our version of Julien .275/.415/.888
Both starting to look like AAAA players after the leagues figured them out. Both with big years in 2023.
