  1. Don't fret anyone. This was just the opening tip, the first pitch, the opening kickoff, the first serve.....
  2. I do think they try to bring him back. Let the market set his value and then see what they want to do. If he wants more than 2-3 yrs though, I'd guess he's gone
  3. On paper. On March 28. For what that's worth. This is the area that needed the biggest upgrade and the one that GOT the biggest upgrade. Duffey and Busenitz are in AAA folks...that's how much better this pen is right now.
  4. You want the main reason for optimism in Twins Territory? These 3 guys are it.
  5. Two words. Why not?
  6. A real honest-to-goodness DH. So, this is what it's like being in the AL!! Seems like the Twins have always looked more like a NL team with the DH they ran out each day.
  7. I'm surprised they're keeping Granite and letting Aybar go. What is Grossman's role going to be with Morrison locked in at DH (or Mauer) and Granite as the 4th OF and a pinch runner. I wonder if the FO is looking at players released and seeing if they can upgrade on Aybar. If they can, maybe then Granite gets sent out.
  8. With Duke and Rogers around, my money is on Kinley. For now.
  9. The Busenitz/Kinley decision seems simple to me. One has options to head to AAA, one does not. One you can send to Rochester, one you would have to send back to Miami. I really think it's that simple. If Kinley fails, they can easily send him back later and call up Busenitz. But why not take a shot on the guy and see what you have.
  10. 3, 5, 7 years ago we would have killed to have these two guys in the bullpen. Now they will head to AAA. That can ONLY be a good sign. Right?
  11. ...also, Hughes is a long man/5th starter for April. Too much money owed him to dump him quite yet and I think they'll want younger guys to pitch more regularly.
  12. Rodney, Reed, Duke, Rogers, Hildenberger, Presley, Kinley. Kinley is a mop up guy b/c they don't want to lose him after essentially sacrificing Chargois, Bard, Burdi, to get him. I wonder if Duffey heads to AAA as a starter or reliever? He has an option left too. Duffey, Busenitz, Curtiss, Moya, etc., give them the ability to shuffle guys to keep fresh arms in the bullpen.
  13. I think we are all going to really enjoy having Brent Rooker in a Twins uniform. BUT...how good is it to see Justin Morneau in a Twins uniform again?!
  14. Not many teams better set up for success in CF in the future than the Twins.
  15. Adrianza is better defensively than Polanco. Period. Not even a discussion. With the way the Twins lineup, assuming health, is constructed, they can get by with an OPS around .700 in the 9 hole. That number, of course, is assuming we see the Adrianza we saw last year offensively and doesn't even take into account if he's actually somewhere between that and what he's been this spring. Let's remember too that Polanco will be back before the AS break.
  16. He's 26. The people that know a lot more than I do think he's ready to fill this role. It certainly is time to find out. Better to find out early in the year than later, when it's too late to make any moves to fill the position. Here's hoping the FO is right!
  17. That is a rather long list of things that need to happen. I think it's up to Joe if he stays. He may need to become more of a part-time 1B, part-time DH and pinch hitter. If he would accept that role and much smaller salary that he surely would be offered, he stays.
  18. Here's how I see this playing out for 2018. This kid is too talented to not at least give him a shot at continuing as a starter. In 2018, I suspect he'll be on some kind of innings limit. So, leave him in Rochester's rotation through...say, July 1. Let him make 15 starts there and throw 100 innings. Then, he comes to Minnesota to pitch out of the bullpen the remainder of this season...hopefully in a playoff push. Next year, Erv is likely gone. Lynn's contract will be up. There will be rotation spots up for grabs. Give him a real chance to crack the rotation.
  19. Wasn't long ago this organization had no depth at SS or 2B. Clearly that has changed. I have no idea who it will be in the near future or a few years from now, but the Twins should have a pretty good SS.
  20. Very, very true. I'm as concerned that he puts in the work to better command the strike zone and cut down on the Ks as I am his conditioning.
  21. Agree 1,000%. I think a lot of his issues have to do with work ethic/maturity. Hopefully he starts to figure some of that stuff out.
  22. "A giant question mark" indeed. Both literally and figuratively. C'mon everyone. We've seen Sano now for 3 years. I mean this as a serious question, not to be neagative....Does anyone really think Miguel Sano will still be playing 3rd base by 2020? I do not. He's a DH/part-time 1B. And, if he can stay healthy...in the lineup for 150 games...hit 35 HR and drive in 100, we should probably just be happy with that.
  23. We tend to react positively or negatively to every move the new FO makes. So far, I think they've done a great job. NOT getting duped into taking DeLeon for Dozier might be their best move to date!
