  2. 20/20 hindsight. Buxton should have squeezed.
  3. 40 for 162. Old time Vikings fans will know what I mean.
  4. Can the Twins go 5 and 4 the rest of the way? 4 out of 6 vs Detroit and 1 of 3 vs Cleveland? Then Texas would have to go 8 and 2 to tie. I like the Twins' chances. So nice to control your own destiny.
  5. If this off season Mauer works to improve his play in the faceoff circle I would give him a Koivu-like extension.
  6. In honor of Gopher Football Saturday, University of Minnesota Alum and New Ulm native Terry Steinbach
  7. Did any one mention Lenny Faedo yet?
  8. The Third Overall Pick in the 1991 Amateur Draft, it is surprising he stuck around for parts of 11 Major League seasons. (Although he hit 136 minor league home runs) He played two plus years for the Twins. In 536 at bats with Minnesota, he hit .226 with 3 home runs and 37 runs batted in. DAVID MCCARTY
  9. A Big League Pitcher for 17 years and an All Star in Cleveland, he pitched in 117 games for the Twins over 2 seasons, winning 10 losing 7 with a 3.61 ERA. GREG SWINDELL
  10. If not for a back injury prematurely ending his career, he would have been the starting second baseman on the 1987 World Champions. Co- American League Rookie of the Year in 1979, JOHN CASTINO
  11. An All Star Catcher with the Cubs, he only played 32 games for the Twins, hitting .193, RANDY HUNDLEY
  12. A two time All Star and two time World Series participant with the Mets, he was a 20 game winner for the Twins in 1979 and a 222 game winner in the major leagues, JERRY KOOSMAN
  13. A Two Time Gold Glove recipient, Six Time All Star and Five Time World Series participant with the Yankees and Padres but he hit his first 12 career home runs with the Twins GRAIG NETTLES
  14. He was an All Star with the White Sox and a very productive player with the Royals and Orioles but he played his first 20 big league games with the Twins. PAT KELLY
  15. Has anyone mentioned Jose Morales or Jose Morales?
  16. How about the 1988 American League Earned Run Average Leader ALLAN ANDERSON? If I remember correctly he declined to make his last start of the season so he could preserve that title. TK must have giving him the option of doing that and he took it. Kind of the opposite of Ted Williams in 1941 who was hitting an even .400 entering the final day of the season. Given the option of sitting out a doubleheader on the last day to preserve the .400, Ted insisted on playing and went 6 for 8 to raise his average to .406
  17. At 23 years old he pitched in the 1977 All Star Game during a season in which he was 20-5 with a 2.34 ERA. He also pitched in the 1979 World Series. Both times representing the Pittsburgh Pirates. He didn't pitch for the Twins until he was 36 in 1990. In 33 relief appearances and one start for Minnesota he was 7-3 with a 3.39 ERA. On July 27, 1990 he was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Toronto Blue Jays for Nelson Liriano and Pedro Munoz. "The Candy Man" JOHN CANDELARIA
  18. Pete Hamm. 6 foot 5 right handed pitcher in 1970 and 1971. Started 8 games in 1971 and was 2 and 4 with a 6.75 ERA. Batted .273 with a double and run scored in 12 plate appearances. Not sure if his season was cut short because he had a bad finger, which reminds me to tell you to not confuse him with Pete Ham, who wrote the classic songs "No Matter What", "Day After Day", "Baby Blue" and "Without You."
  19. The only player to be the first overall pick in the amateur draft in two separate years, DANNY GOODWIN. Goodwin was initially drafted first overall in the 1971 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox, but chose to attend Southern University. Four years later, he was again selected with the first overall pick by the California Angels. He played 172 games with the Twins from 1979 to 1981 and hit .242 with 8 home runs for the Twins.
  20. Make sure and dump your beer on Souza Jr.
  21. If you're going to sit that close at least be smart enough to know to let our players catch fould balls and mess with the visitors when they are trying to catch the ball
  22. I think Dan Gladden will eventually get in based on the combination of his playing and broadcasting career. I think his scrappy tough playing personality had a lot of influence on the Twins teams he played on. I thought the team had a different mentality before and after he was here.
  23. I remember some road games in 1976 where a gimpy kneed Tony Oliva would be in the lineup batting lead off and playing 2nd base. He would lead off the top of the 1st and be replaced by Bobby Randall or Jerry Terrell if he got on base or at 2nd base in the bottom of the first.
