  1. In my opinion, which is worth little, this nails it. The Pohlads are so nervous to be the Pohlads that they'll appease with the occasional Donaldson or Correa, surround them with 20 fringe major leaguers then sit tight with the below average fringe players way to long.. it may not have been popular the past 2 years but between Polanco and last year we have Bradley, Abel, Tait, Gonzalez, Rojas and Mendez. Will they all work out? No. But on the same timeline. That's not to say you can go 100% youth, but you can't dump all your payroll into 2-3 guys, like we seemingly always have the past 5-10 years. It's not basketball.
  2. Just seems contributing backstops are hard to find. Forgot about Ober, which probably tells me what his value is. I do struggle with Ryan, as his velocity doesn't define his success,. Also, it won't happen but if you can trade Lee for some other teams struggling prospect I'd consider.
  3. only opinions: 1.) Byron- would sting but I'd listen. Atlanta is a natural but they don't have the prospects. Dodgers have like 5 of the top 50. Gimme all 5. His value (talent and contract) have immense value 2.) Ryan - only if you are blown away 3.) Jeffers - I'd keep him 4.) Martin - No. Trade him just to hopefully get another Austin Martin? Doesn't make sense 5.) Bell - meh, don't care either way 6.) Royce - it's not Pennie's on the dollar, it's Pennie's on the quarter. If he can learn to put the ball in play, there may be a very tiny window where he contributes. Doubtful, but we're in Lloyd Christmas territory 6.) Wallner - for god sakes free the guy. Pennies on a nickel. It like the wolves signing a bad basketball player who can't make a bucket and plays bad D, but could win the slam dunk championship. If there's anything inside MW, let him set sail and find it elsewhere. Love the article
  4. It's not unfair to say the bar is provably low for many, and maybe too high for others.. sure, lightning in a bottle can happen (Tampa seems to catch it well) but otherwise, if I were King, divisions would split from geography to payroll based - if no cap. It kinda works out that way in the AL Central and therefore you are right in saying the Twins have no excuse to not compete in this division.. that is why personally, I'm so disappointed in Royce and MW, and Pablo's injury. The margin for error is so low for many of these teams.
  5. So now the goal posts move, got it. Figured that response was next. Fairly predictable, heck, even 'mediocre'. Enjoy the season!, I will.
  6. Silly me for fantasizing they won a playoff series 2.5 years ago. Man the decades fly by... I'm such a loser, unlike someone as well schooled by facts as yourself
  7. That's not a crazy argument. Maybe McCuster ruined it for Fedko, Sabato, etc
  8. Can we ignore him because zero MLB teams picked him up last summer when he could have been had for nothing?
  9. There is 0% chance MW is a contributing starter on opening day 2027. You cannot risk another 50 game historically putrid stretch to start the year - for the 3rd time in 5 years. He needs to be traded. Royce is in the same boat.
  10. 12 runs, 11 hits, only 3k's tonight. MW zero runs, zero hits, 2k's (still playing) Trade the poor guy, for literally anything. Maybe the hometown pressure is too much, because he is awful.
  11. No disrespect but you are hoping beyond hope. If Wallner plays another game as a Twin it will be one too many. A few on here took shots from fierce analytics folks early in the year for comparing him to Joey Gallo, and while getting much pushback from those claiming he was a top 5 RF'r, I now feel I owe Gallo an apology.. it would have been a good story, it didn't work. and while he flamed out, he made it much further than the rest of us, so he did well and lived the dream. Royce simply has to be next.
  12. 💯 agree but I'd say if not injuries it 'should' be done not would have been done. They holding on very tight to Royce and Matt and giving a very long leash. Possibly they know 2026 is lost, so focusing on development - which I don't disagree with
  13. True. If the twins go that route start playing KC at 2nd or 3rd now. Let Brooks keep cutting his teeth in MLB until Houston arrives. Ultimately Houston is the shortstop with KC and Brooks taking 2nd and 3rd.. Not sure what you do with Keaschall. Still think Amick will have a say in things somewhere on the field in 2yrs.
  14. You wouldn't have done the Bader deal? And from previous post, you would have preferred to be paying a full Correa salary? If so I respectfully disagree
  15. good article, thanks! Clearly the walks need improvement. I'm guessing not completely abnormal for a 20.5 yr old in high A that was drafted at 165 lbs. it doesn't mean he will solve it but I got tired of the polished Stephen Golsalves types a while ago (also 6'5 lefty polished at 20 and went 13-3 with a 2.01 ERA in age 20 season - but threw about 87 MPH). Once he got to the big leagues it didn't work, it was never gonna work and he was never to be heard from again. hoping Dasan can grow into his body and get control because 6'5 lefty's throwing 100 interest me
  16. I cannot stand the 'he's one of us bias'.... but I'm probably being obtuse. There probably is value to bringing your kid to a game and saying 'if Louis, or Matt can do it, so can you.' i like prospects so i like Rojas. And we weren't winning this year anyway. So why not go young. But I 💯 get your point on Varland.
  17. .... which in all fairness, he did. So why wouldn't he think he could again? regarding Correa.... he is out. He is not helping the twins, or the Astros. Rather than paying full price for nothing, Houston took a good deal of the burden. To me, that's a win. Now the reinvestment of that saving, maybe not so much....
  18. Royce has a lot of work to do. He genuinely looks uncomfortable and over-matched. I'm sure he gets the year and why not. I hope he can turn it around. Seems like a good kid. ps.... personally think Houston is the future at short if not Brooks
  19. Yea all the criticism surprised me to. Geez. The OP throws an advanced metric out and everyone piles on. im not entirely sure what OAA is or how it's calculated. But comparatively to Correa, who had good range and cannon, I'm curious what Carlos' was last year. Brooks is progressing just fine. There are others who deserve the strong critiques
