  1. To be fair, I believe the Twins' interest in Saunders was described as "incredibly mild". From the report it sounded like a phone call, nothing more.
  2. Let's get back on topic, folks. This thread isn't about prospects or the front office. This thread is about Kris Johnson. We'll be handing out infractions and bans if this line of discussion continues.
  3. It's an insanely difficult problem to troubleshoot. We don't have direct access to what is being served via the network and everybody gets different ads, which means that I can't see what you're getting and vice versa. Much of the time, all we can do is hope that another site is delivered those ads and that person complains, getting the ads removed from the entire network.
  4. I wish I had time for games nowadays, I'd love to play it. This game has been the subject of every work lunch this week.
  5. It's a giant PITA, to be honest. Me: Your ads have malware! Network: Which ads? Me: I have no &^%$ing idea. Can't get them to appear on my machine. Network: ... Me: I know, I know.
  6. Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel. I'd like to see Josmil crack the 25 man out of Ft Myers but if he doesn't, he'll be up soon enough.
  7. I love this paragraph as a rebuttal for those who attempt to diminish Mauer's accomplishments because he doesn't jump up and down, scream, and hit a bunch of taters: Put that into perspective for a moment.
  8. It's not this site, it's the ad networks.
  9. I don't see the purpose in picking up any more starters. I was back-and-forth on Santana because he won't be ready for a few months but after seeing the deal he got from the O's, no thanks. It's unlikely that he will contribute anything meaningful to a team that looks to struggle to reach the 75 win mark.
  10. Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the site! Our mods work diligently to keep the intelligent baseball coming and weed out some of the posters who run rampant on other sites.
  11. MiLB players don't have to be given equal representation to MLB players. They simply need a seat at the table, someone who is looking out for their interests. Currently, that person doesn't exist and a lot of problems could be fixed with minimal cost to ownership and MLB players.
  12. Yep. The problem isn't entirely on ownership here, though they certainly get some of the blame. The main problem is caused by the fact that one group of workers (MiLB players) is entirely unrepresented in bargaining while the represented group of workers (MLB players) has no vested interest in helping them. Give MiLB players a seat at the bargaining table and this gets fixed in a big hurry.

  14. I really have no interest in re-entering this conversation but his post was correct. Anything under 10 should be spelled out (one, two, three, etc.) and anything 10 or above should be numerical (10, 20, 30, etc.). https://www.grammarbook.com/numbers/numbers.asp
  15. Hard to say. I'd have to believe that the Twins are at least a little gunshy about skipping levels after the Hicks fiasco.
  16. Everybody makes mistakes. I certainly make my fair share of them. But I think there's a big difference between making the occasional mistake and trying to correct it versus writing something that is borderline unintelligible, leaning back after a job well done, and smoking a cigar in celebration.
  17. Fantastic post. The problem with the NCAA and MiLB is that they are not free market institutions. Almost the exact opposite, really. And their best, they're collusion-ridden institutions who thrive on agreements to suppress player/student pay, hiding because the guise of future promise of glory. At their worst, well... Twins Daily doesn't allow the use of the words I'd choose to describe them at their worst.
  18. Well, it was incredibly unlikely that Sano was going to be in Minnesota for the first half of the season so that really changes nothing.
  19. You used the wrong form of "its". *ducks and runs*
  20. Yeah, I believe the refusal/inability to learn and use the correct forms of common words is pretty lazy. I don't expect people to know the correct spelling of onomatopoeia every time but the correct use of "you're" shouldn't be too lofty a request. It's third grade English.
  21. There are still a ton of guys to watch this season. Arcia, Hicks, Gibson, and Meyer for starters. It sucks that Sano went down but he's not the only interesting story this year.
  22. Word filters are a serious hassle with this software. Because, trust me, they would have been implemented long ago if that was not the case. Misspellings like "you're/your" and "to/too/two" drive me up the wall. They indicate laziness, IMO. We all make mistakes. They're called typos. Not bothering to learn the proper spelling of a commonly used word or name is something entirely different.
  23. It's a little tricky because the Twins announced the results. Hard to say what would apply here without being a lawyer. Still, no doctor is going to speak publicly about it.
  24. I didn't mean in the legal sense (my wife's a lawyer so I know the federal government does not observe privilege), I meant in the sense that doctors, by and large, still respect the privilege. But some states respect doctor patient privilege. Hard to say what would apply without looking it up. Anyway, few doctors will talk about their patients and fewer will talk to journalists. Requesting information from the horse's mouth is silly.
