  1. Yep. I have no issues with Bruno's work with the hitters. Hell, I thought Vavra was a pretty good hitting coach as well. A lot has changed since the days of Ullger and I welcome it.
  2. Adam Dunn and David Ortiz have gorilla arms. Gomez has crazy bat speed and wrists. So does Arcia and when all is said and done, he might have gorilla arms as well. The same approach doesn't work for every player. You'd have a hell of a time convincing me that Dunn, Gomez, and Ortiz would be better players if they used the entire field. What's more likely is that they'd see their power decline. Sometimes those homers and doubles come on pitches they "should" be spraying oppo.
  3. I've reported that ad to the network. I started receiving them this morning.
  4. Should be fixed for everybody. That permission was oddly named and placed in a weird spot.
  5. Eh, Gardy wants to see what he has in Schafer. I expected him to get a few starts early on.
  6. Would Carlos Gomez, Adam Dunn, or David Ortiz be better players if they used the entire field? Some players don't swing that way. If they have the swing and the power to be dead-pull and do it successfully, I see no reason to change that. Oswaldo Arcia has just over 600 MLB PAs with an OPS+ of 100. He just turned 23 years old a few days ago. There's a lot more power coming from that swing as he matures and I think it's a mistake to force him into an uncomfortable plate approach. Work on his discipline, sure. Work on pitch recognition, definitely. Tell him to go oppo field? Nah, not so much.
  7. I think there are reasons to teach a player to go opposite field but it depends on the player. Is Arcia more Trevor Plouffe or more David Ortiz? I think he's more Ortiz, though he probably won't have that kind of career. If the player is good enough to be a dead-pull hitter and succeed, leave him be. JJ Hardy and David Ortiz are obvious examples of players to leave alone. If the player isn't good enough to be a dead-pull hitter - like Trevor Plouffe - then convincing the player to consider going opposite field isn't the worst idea in the world. Personally, I think Arcia is good enough that he can be a quality dead-pull hitter and the Twins shouldn't try to change that.
  8. That is way too coherent to have come from Dan Gladden.
  9. Maybe Perkins doesn't like Kevin Correia.
  10. Yeesh. Perkins has been playing with fire lately. .391 BAA with an .851 OPS against in past 14 days.
  11. Correia is a fifth starter making fifth starter money. His contract is not a bad one, though it's certainly of no use to the Twins at this point.
  12. A quick glance over the standings shows the Twins with the ninth pick next draft. I just don't see this team moving much outside the 7-11 range and this latest batch of decent play has only cemented that opinion.
  13. Yay, Brian Duensing. Pull Correia after 80 pitches so the lefty specialist can give up a hit and a walk before getting pulled.
  14. The footer of the site gives it away if you look closely...
  15. I've been meaning to write a primer on how to use the site but it keeps getting punted down the list (and you'll see why in approximately two weeks). It will happen at some point, I've just been strung in 20 different directions for the past month and haven't gotten to it yet. As for accessing Jeremy's work, scroll down to the footer from any page and you'll see links listed for the Org Chart and R&P under Articles. One of my primary goals with this redesign was to make the entire site accessible with 1-2 clicks from any other page on the site. For the most part that's possible if you know where to look.
  16. The front page is going to display last post instead of first post, which is kinda illogical but how the module automatically serves content. It's on the list of changes coming in the next few weeks. As for "quick glance", everything that was served on the old site's front page is served on the new site's front page, excepting those forum posts that are going to change at some point. The new front page delivers that information in a far more readable fashion with less imagery. If you want a steady stream of new posts from everywhere on the site, use the quick nav on the top right and select Community>View New Content. As for less posters on the forums, our traffic has not changed since the redesign.
  17. June 18th so... yeah... not for awhile.
  18. Indeed. I think Meyer should be up here given the information I have available to me. I'm hoping the Twins have more information and that is the reason we haven't seen Meyer. If he hasn't been promoted out of sheer stubbornness, well...
  19. I can understand some hesitation for the Twins to call up Meyer... But both May and Meyer? Nah, I'm over waiting for either of those guys to show up in Minnesota.
  20. Good news for Aaron. Glad to see him moving back up the ladder.
  21. I consider a legitimate corner OF bat to be a guy in the .775-.825 OPS range. And I'm still skeptical that Santana can maintain that pace going forward. If he can, great. If he can't, he needs to stick at an up-the-middle position to reach max value.
  22. Maybe a team won't trade for him as a SS... but it's possible they'll trade for him as a CF if he continues to play there. And given Ryan's recent hauls from the centerfield position (!!!!!!!!!), I'd put good money on Santana bringing back something of value, maybe a legitimate corner outfield bat.
