  1. This is my 30th year of being a Twins fan and I've never seen a roster this badly managed. Everyone involved with this team (excluding the players) should be so ****ing embarrassed right now. They sit on their hands at the wrong time, which is frustrating enough... But then they double-down on that by making inexplicable moves at the wrong time as well. And then they go back to sitting on their hands when a third option - one that might clean up their prior two messes - presents itself. Absolutely ****ing maddening. I usually try to catch a few games in August/September as summer winds down. Say goodbye to the baseball season and all that. Not this year. They're not getting a dime from me other than the TD pub crawl.
  2. The Yankees are built to frustrate and intimidate opposing pitchers, particularly in Yankee Stadium. The Twins should have won last night. They outhit (by a lot) and outpitched (by a bit) the Yankees for the first seven innings of the game... But that ****ing ballpark killed the Twins again. It was a horribly sequenced game for the Twins, which will happen from time to time. For most of the game, the Yankees had more runs than hits. Did I mention how much I hate that ****ing ballpark?
  3. The thing is that his strikeouts never diminished to the point they became a problem in years past. Is Perkins getting old? Yeah, I suppose that's a possibility but he has so few miles on that arm, it shouldn't be a problem at age 32.
  4. Honest question: Do you think Ryan is embarrassed right now? Because he probably should be embarrassed. Perkins needs a breather or a DL stint. Something is wrong with him. But the Twins can't do that because they have so few acceptable arms in the bullpen so they continue to throw him out there and he continues to get shelled.
  5. Yes, this. Duensing came into the game in the sixth inning. Baseball games have nine innings. Count the good Twins relievers. Innings Remaining - Good Relievers = ?
  6. Gibson: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 BB... 5 earned runs. Ouch.
  7. Are we sure Colorado didn't want Reyes? They talked to Toronto about him multiple times. Given the way that franchise is run, I wouldn't take anything for granted.
  8. What a fun collection of stats. Thanks!
  9. There was a really long thread on this topic 1-2 years ago here on TD. Posters did a lot of research and I recall we pretty definitively decided RF received more balls, though I could be misremembering. I went into the conversation thinking LF would be the clear winner, which is why I remember the thread. Any posters remember that thread?
  10. I always assumed more balls went to left as well but apparently, the inverse is true. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2014/4/3/5576220/right-field-skill-position
  11. I'd put Hicks in RF because more balls are hit to right. Both Rosario and Hicks have good range and arms but I'd give the nod to Aaron in both categories. Therefore, he gets the more premium defensive position.
  12. I just don't see that happening. Yes, it's possible Hu has a decent career in MLB - though I doubt that will be the case - but given the Twins' plethora of options, I don't think it will impact the MLB club much, if at all. As we saw with Duffey over the weekend, the Twins aren't lacking back of the rotation pitching options going forward. Losing Hu wasn't the problem, the return of Kevin Jepsen was the problem. Hu is the type of player the Twins shouldn't hesitate to trade if it helps the MLB team compete.
  13. You're probably right, though I don't agree with it.
  14. Well, here's hoping Duffey is lights-out for the remainder of the season so the Twins can trade him. It'd be great to go into the offseason intent on trading Duffey or Milone for organization depth or MLB help at a position of need. Neither player would bring back a lot but they both have value.
  15. Agreed. The Twins should focus on putting the best possible baseball team on the field for the remainder of the season. Vargas for a reliever. Buxton for Robinson in 4-7 days. That improves the roster quite a bit and they don't even have to change the 40 man roster or use an option to do it.
  16. My personal feeling is that Buxton should take the place of Robinson.
  17. I also think he'd get more than 30 PAs but just used that number as a baseline for "he probably won't play a lot".
  18. I would assume he'd take a Rochester rotation spot but in reality, I haven't paid enough attention to the Red Wings' rotation to know if there's space for him to start for the team.
  19. The Twins continue to struggle against RHP and lack *any* good PH options off the bench. Vargas isn't a great fit for the team because he's incapable of playing any position well but at this point in the season, does that really matter? The guy has a .928 OPS for the season and after a terrible July in AA, has turned the corner and posted good numbers, mainly against RHP. I'd prefer to see Arcia but he continues to flounder so badly a call-up is basically unthinkable at this point. If the Twins try to add a bat like Vargas, which pitcher gets a demotion? It's my opinion the Twins shouldn't give much thought to playing time, as every win counts and even if Vargas only gets 30 PAs from now until the end of the season, that could be enough to squeak out an extra (vital) win this season.
  20. Yep. The 2016 fourth outfielder should be a thumper. Whether that's Arcia or another guy, I don't really care (though obviously Oswaldo should get the first shot at the job).
  21. The only thing Buxton's stint in AAA has told me is "Byron's thumb is healed and his timing wasn't affected by the injury". And really, that's all we needed to know. If he's not up before the end of August, that's... not smart. Every game matters and while I appreciate what Sugar Shane has done for the team this season, he shouldn't get in Buxton's way if Byron is ready to play.
  22. I like Sanders' authenticity but he's too far left for me. He seems like a great guy and we agree on a lot of things but some of his policy gives me pause. Also, I *really* doubt he wins the nomination.
  23. Yes, this. I don't know if I'm mentally capable of helping vote another Bush or Clinton into the White House. I'm begging for a real candidate from both sides, yet it appears neither side is interested in offering me a legitimate choice.
  24. Yep. Past squads start rotating to N/A with the 64th win and they all drop off if the Twins win a 73rd game this season.
