  1. Sure, it has been an issue that May and Jepsen, the Twins' two best bullpen arms, have started badly and handed away games. I don't expect that to continue so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be worked up about. Except for Casey Fien. I'm worked up that he's even on the roster.
  2. The Twins scored a season-high in runs last night: Three. The biggest problem ain't the bullpen, folks.
  3. One of the most beautiful plays in baseball is the LOOGY five pitch walk.
  4. I lived in Long Beach for a long time and had to listen to that ape during every Angels broadcast. My dislike of Hudler knows no bounds.
  5. I compared my neighborhood's noise level to that of Uptown. My neighborhood is quieter than my friends' various Uptown neighborhoods. Also, my neighborhood's crime rate is basically the same as the Whittier and Loring Park neighborhoods. If I moved three houses north (putting me in the Victory neighborhood), it'd be considerably lower than those two areas. https://www.minnpost.com/crime?gclid=Cj0KEQjwrZ24BRC098fr-OqnuMkBEiQAKQ9lgHsoKYtZaKG3H8zXhwwyJGuy6zkWhBLt2hmNB1AdQLAaAtZQ8P8HAQ#city/minneapolis/total
  6. North is generally a poor-ish area. Some parts are worse than others. But you'd never know that talking to many MSP area residents. They think the entire place is a war zone when in fact, most of it is just lower middle-class housing, not an inner-city ghetto. It's mostly working-class families who go about their business just like everybody else. And even the "worst" parts of north are pretty tame in comparison to other major metro areas. I've lived in worse areas and I've been in much worse areas.
  7. My neighborhood is pretty solidly mixed. Latino family on one side of my house, Somali on the other. Lots of white people mixed in with PoC. But gauging the reactions of many suburbanites I've met, I live in Syria.
  8. Cool story. My neighborhood is still quiet.
  9. I live in one of the few "black neighborhoods" in Minnesota and agree. The typical attitude toward near-north and north Minneapolis simply isn't seen in other parts of the country that are more diverse racially unless you get into neighborhoods with really "scary" names like Compton or Watts. I lived in Long Beach for a decade and only Inland Empire white trash morons thought it was weird for a white person to live in the home of Snoop Dogg. People double-take on a daily basis when I tell them I live in north Minneapolis. It's tiresome and boring and more than a little bit racist. My house is literally six minutes from downtown Minneapolis and the neighborhood is quiet as a mouse 99% of the time. Much quieter than supposedly "nice" neighborhoods like Uptown. I've lived in the home for five years now and have somehow managed to not get shot, not even once.
  10. Against LHP, Suzuki has a slightly better OBP. In that situation, it wasn't a bad call... But yeah, the pinch-running move made less sense. If you're going to pinch-run, why not pinch-hit? If it's a RHP, that should be a no-brainer decision. You go to Arcia almost every time, maybe Nunez on occasion.
  11. Come on. You're not even reading what I'm writing. Kurt Suzuki was facing a left-handed pitcher. Kurt Suzuki and Eduardo Nunez are essentially the same hitter against left-handed pitching, both in their careers and the 2015 season. I'm not even sure why you're arguing with me and quoted my post. That's all I said.
  12. I didn't have a problem with Santana getting the nod out of Spring Training last season because he was the young guy with upside going into the season. I didn't think they pulled the plug as quickly and violently on Santana as I would have liked but I couldn't really fault them for going with him in April.
  13. No, but I get the gist of it. It's a tough call. If someone believes releasing Santana is the right move, that's a viable option... But I've seen a lot of people suggest Nunez is the expendable one and that simply *is not* the case. Danny Santana was possibly the worst player in all of baseball last season. He can't be Option B on a team with aspirations of postseason glory. It's a tough call. I don't mind the route the Twins took but I can see the argument for releasing Santana... Though I'd prefer to let Polanco get some appearances, grade how Santana looks, and then consider releasing Nunez in late May or June.
  14. My opinion of the team hasn't changed a bit (except for Escobar, who is unbelievably good again). It's three games. Yeah, opening the season 0-3 really sucks but the weather is cold and players are still figuring it out. I'm irritated that the Twins can't string together a win but it's just three games. Annoying but not terribly important in the grand scheme of things.
  15. I also wanted Escobar starting in front of Florimon but I never dreamed he'd be this good. My opinion was this: While Escobar's upside appears to be minimal, at least he has something resembling an upside. Pedro Florimon was awful yesterday, is awful today, and will be awful tomorrow. I really disliked Pedro Florimon.
  16. Well, then you have to put Santana on waivers because he can't be relied upon as an injury back up. Are you prepared to do that?
  17. Seriously, this guy. That is all. Discuss.
  18. I view a bunt hit as forcing defenses to stay honest. Maybe that helps Dozier when he's not bunting but I admit that's conjecture on my part.
  19. You are issued a flagrant and spend 46 seconds in the penalty box.
  20. Dude, he produced at basically that same level lllllaaaasssttt season. The numbers are right there in the post you quoted.
  21. Heh, the consistency bit is just another way of saying the enforcement of this policy is entirely at the whims of whatever moderator happens to be posting in the thread that night. They'll make a judgment call and that call stands.
