  1. I haven’t watched a Twins game sober in almost a decade.
  2. T-Ball is boring because at some point, a kid will get tired and sit down in the outfield. These guys were TRYING. To a delightfully hilarious level.
  3. I’m so glad I queued up the Benny Hill theme 15 minutes ago.
  4. What Garver did wrong there was a failure to tackle the pitcher.
  5. So, if Garver hits a ball safely to the outfield, the correct move is to tackle the pitcher, right? Assuming we’re playing by Calvinball rules here.
  6. I’m pulling for a situation so weird that an outfielder tags a runner at home plate.
  7. Fair enough. I saw it twice and it looked like it was quite noticeably above Mauer’s belt.
  8. Or how a bunch are just plain wrong if you're watching the game and glance at GameDay a few moments later. Not like a little bit wrong, but "WTF" wrong.
  9. We all realize that GameDay is a human clicking a mouse to spot a location, right? It is not linked to any real pitch-tracking data AFAIK.
  10. That wasn't too close to take. It was at the top of the catcher's helmet, maybe even above it.
  11. 1. I said it doesn't matter much to me. I'm more interested in seeing the players succeed than getting a little more draft money and a higher slot. 2. A slot swing of 10 isn't even on the table this season so it's a moot point.
  12. I said that... but it's not really what I said. I said anything in the 10-20 range is pretty much the same to me. The likely difference we're talking about here - and I mentioned it a few times in earlier posts - is maybe +/- 3 draft slots. In other words, not much.
  13. Yeah, in a world where we declare 15 year olds "irredeemable" with a life sentence, taking the state's word for it seems a touch misguided.
  14. They definitely need some refinement and I think their job has only become harder with the popularity of the shift in recent years.
  15. This is what many of us feared would happen, I think, and why we wanted to sell. The Twins were hanging on, chasing a Cleveland team that just needed to fix its bullpen and get its head straight. They fixed the bullpen and the writing was on the wall.
  16. Not really. On the current 25-man roster, approximately 20 of those guys have a potential future with the 2019 Twins. Only ~3 players on the roster are 30 years old or older (would have to confirm exact number but I'm pretty sure it's under 5). The performance of young players will likely dictate the number of wins through the remainder of the season.
  17. It's not only about young vets playing well, it's about guys like Moya, Gonsalves, Stewart, et al crashing and burning in their first lengthy MLB stints. And we're still 10 games from September and expanded rosters. Most teams are playing straight-up right now, not padding their lineups with AAAA players. I'll take strong performances from them over watching the Twins pick three slots higher next June.
  18. Is that worth the trade-off of having your young players stumble against MLB opposition?
  19. Is it, though? Honest question. You're not getting in on the top 4-5 guys (and often, only the top 2-3 guys are truly interesting before the picture gets muddy) but you're not far enough back to pick at the bottom of the round where it becomes entirely muddy. Anything from 10 to 20 is basically the same to me. At that point it comes down to scouting and draft strategy (eg. you overpay a guy to get him away from college or you underpay and do similar things in later rounds).
