  1. No. He's going to be looking for a 2+ year deal, which the Twins are unlikely to offer.
  2. One gets the impression this is going to be a 15-9 game when all is said and done.
  3. All they need to do is add Graterol to the 40-man roster by September to make him eligible for the postseason.
  4. They can't call him up in September unless he's added to the 40-man, which qualifies him to pitch in the postseason (Aug 31 deadline for the 40-man addition, I think?). If they're going to promote him at all, that's the only way that makes sense. Otherwise, why bother?
  5. It’s good the Twins picked up Dyson and some of their internal options are working out. If things hold as they are now, the Twins can largely ignore the bullpen this offseason and focus on the rotation, which is a hot mess going into the 2020 season.
  6. What makes you think that? According to Gleeman and his interview from last week, Levine all but said Graterol will get a September call-up.
  7. I like how this team looks almost bored every time they mash a 400 ft ball nowadays.
  8. If the 2019 Twins can coast through September with a winning record for the month, they will have gone an entire season without a losing month of baseball for the first time since 2002.
  9. Well, this makes me feel a little bit better about the postseason. From MLB.com: Odorizzi will line up to pitch on six days' rest on Wednesday against the White Sox, which bodes well for the Twins, as the All-Star right-hander is 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA, 43 strikeouts and eight walks this season when pitching on extra rest.
  10. Could mean several things, will need clarification.
  11. But big towns and public transit are so SCARY! HOW DO YOU EVEN
  12. And this is why it's important to have 10-11 position players and 6-7 starters. How many times has the Twins starting nine actually started? I'm pretty sure it's still ZERO times.
  13. I have lots of rules about lots of things. (Log 184,364: new rule about Chief and transgender comments)
  14. My hard and fast rule is that transgender people have enough to be mad about that baseball doesn't even register on the radar.
  15. Sano got mad at a strikeout and ate a Chicago ballboy. Strangely enough, he wasn't ejected and is due up next inning.
  16. Rosario feels like the most consistently unlucky player I've seen in awhile.
  17. Yeah. I have little sympathy for the phone 100% situation but the paying attention 50% situation is pretty disturbing. That ball was nasty. I think it was off Cruz' bat and had to be knuckling backward at close to 100mph. Again, I'm not scared of baseballs but that was curving backward and flying at such a rate that I couldn't read where it was going to hit without just putting myself sideways (because it's not as if you can just shift your feet and stay in front of it when seats are down) and hoping for the best.
  18. Yeah, that's part of the reason why I was against more nets; it ruins my experience because others don't pay attention. But actually paying attention and being put in that position rapidly changed my mind. Paying attention matters but sometimes doesn't solve the problem.
  19. I've been against more nets but after attending another game with my kid this past weekend - this time in prime foul territory in the Delta 360 Club - I have to admit they're pretty much necessary. There was one line drive that was basically me or my kid. I dove over but the ball hit the fascia by *maybe* 6-12 inches and deflected back to the field. That's no good. It wasn't even about catching the ball, it was about throwing myself in front of the kid. And I'm not a person who is afraid of baseballs. But that one was straight up dangerous because I couldn't risk "handing it" and missing to let it drill my 47 lb kid.
  20. Both of them broadcast well into the internet years... like over a decade for both. I won't really defend Dick but I think he's fine. Bert is just awful. He has nothing of interest to say anymore, though I feel he actually had something approaching insight 15 years ago. Neither is an iconic broadcaster. It's not as if you heard Dodgers fans calling for Scully's head three years ago... because he was the greatest broadcaster in history. That transcends generations. Greatness is greatness, age does not matter.
  21. Way too early to think about that. If the divisional status permits it, my priorities are: 1. Everyone gets a day or two of rest by plugging in Smeltzer, Thorpe, whatever into the rotation on occasion, stretching out the rotation to 6-7 guys 2. Berrios gets 7-8 days of rest, minimum 3. Gibson gets 7-8 days of rest, minimum 4. Odorizzi gets shortened starts for most of September
