  1. Here's a dated meme for your wall, Parker.

    1. Parker Hageman

      Parker Hageman

I’m old so I understand this reference. Thank you.

  2. By the way, for those of you that haven't read the tutorials, two cool new things available. @Mike Sixel Hi, I tagged you! And hit the GIF button in the top of the text editor, you have an immediately searchable GIPHY library!
  3. A dark mode is on the table but it's going to be awhile. I need to check options available; if there's an option that doesn't involve me writing an entirely separate theme and maintaining it, that option will be available much sooner than if I have to maintain two sets of code.
  4. If you scroll down 800-ish pixels on any page, this red circle will appear on the bottom left of your screen: I added that to the site explicitly for that reason. It's a scroll to top button that takes you back to the top of the page without scrolling.
  5. Annnnnddd we're live!

This is too much for me! Go back to the old version! ?

  6. “Use the code “FIGHT ME, BUSTER OLNEY” to take advantage of this special offer.” Literal LOL.
  7. Signing relievers is *very* hard and money isn’t necessarily the cure for risk. Look at Craig Kimbrel, as low risk a signing as you can get from a performance standpoint. He’s been good this season but has largely been a dumpster fire since being signed for significant money. Even Hendricks has only been “fine” for the White Sox this season, pitching to a 4.6 FIP. I’m sure he’ll be good again but already has a few blown saves and the White Sox aren’t paying him to be “fine”.
  8. We could go a couple of weeks without another homer but since his callup, Kirilloff has been crushing the ball. His first week+ was wildly unlucky. If he keeps doing what he's doing, he may not hit homers but he'll be racking up doubles and hard-hit singles. As for walks, I don't expect a lot of discipline to start off, maybe even for the entire season. But he's not an undisciplined hitter and has good contact ability so those numbers should trend slightly in a more positive direction.
  9. I'm so excited to catch a Saints game this year.
  10. That side-by-side video is amazing. It's as if you put Buxton in photoshop and image sized him to 120%.
  11. While I haven’t been a fan of Baldelli this season, he should be fired if he’s making decision based on six combined PAs by two players, especially if those six PAs weren’t exactly jaw-dropping.
  12. Woof, if I passed on the Phillies job as Levine did, I don’t think I’d trip over myself in a rush to accept the Rockies job. That franchise is a mess and it’s partially ownership’s fault.
  13. Oh, for sure, I was mostly rebutting the use of batting average as an offensive indicator, particularly for a weirdo like Astudillo.
  14. Eddie Rosario has a 73 OPS+ this season so he wouldn't solve any problems on this team. And there are too many problems right now for any one player to solve unless his name is Mike Trout and is amazing at literally everything.
  15. His wRC+, a good single number representation of offensive output, is 89 (100 is average). Like so many other hitters this season, Astudillo has not been good at the plate.
  16. I think this sorts itself out by midseason. If Garver goes back to mashing LHP, keep on keepin’ on. If Garver continues to post mediocre numbers against LHP, we see Baldelli shift to a more neutral platoon of the two players.
  17. Polanco worries the hell out of me because his LH swing still looks like garbage. He's constantly flailing and off-balance. Kepler, eh... I don't know. Perhaps people have too high of expectations for him. I think he'll hit okay (a mild disappointment there) and play good defense, making him a decent everyday player. I don't see stardom for him, really, unless he can figure out how to fix that absurd BABIP.
  18. I haven't been as worried about Sano as some because: 1. His approach has looked good, he just can't hit the damned ball 2. We've seen this before as Miguel gets ready to start launching moonshots on a regular basis But still, it sure would be nice if he didn't throw away the first 50 PAs of every season/callup. That part is getting a little tiresome.
  19. The moment Dobnak signed that contract, the Twins were able to use him as the “whatever” player because they basically control him until the end of the world. I’m sure he’ll make it into the rotation at some point but in the meantime, he gives the roster some flexibility.
  20. While I tend to give managers a fair amount of slack in bullpen usage - it's a difficult decision on the fly with a lot of variables we don't see as spectators - I have been... not impressed... with Baldelli's usage so far this season, none moreso than yesterday's game.
  21. Yeah, I don't really mind the Ks (well not more than my general annoyance at the overall trend in MLB) but there are times when quality contact is so important and this team doesn't seem to be able to flip that switch. Those Cave and Astudillo PAs were painful to watch.
  22. Yep, this is a glaring flaw with Astudillo, one I hoped he would correct (with the caveat it would probably cause his Ks to rise accordingly). I also believe it was the cause of his precipitous offensive decline as 2019 progressed. Pitchers couldn't stop him from making contact but it appears they can stop him from making good contact.
