  1. Is there tension? I don't know, honestly. Could be. But I know there has been at least temporary friction, and it's pretty obvious that was squarely on Lewis while Correa was trying to get everybody's ass in gear. I'm not particularly enchanted with Lewis. I would not make any roster decisions around him.
  2. There has never been even a whisper that Correa is a clubhouse problem. In fact, everybody pretty much says the opposite.
  3. It takes some real balls to ask for Andrew Painter in a deal for a reliever.
  4. With six sites to cover, they're becoming less fun and more stressful. So many things bouncing around at once.
  5. Oh, there's certainly a chance Culpepper debuts next year, maybe it's even likely given how he's playing. But even if that happens, Correa can easily slide over to third base, where he's better than Lewis. The defense on this team is one of many things that needs to improve.
  6. I try not to think about prospects if they're more than a month or two out. "Clearing space" for a guy like Culpepper isn't even on my radar as a thing. If he was in Triple-A and hitting really well, then I'd factor him into plans. Otherwise, not even a factor. You'll get yourself into a lot of trouble if you dream on prospects who are multiple levels away from the majors.
  7. They're probably better without Correa on the team. But that's the nature of big contracts, and I'm not a fan of exploiting "efficiency" to the point it diminishes the fan experience. I have absolutely no desire to see the Twins become the Tampa Bay Rays.
  8. Almost every owner talks a good game when they enter the sport. If an owner is restricting payroll on day one, that means the Twins have a Bob Nutting-level owner and we all might as well stop watching this team.
  9. If Correa wants to leave, I don't blame him. And if new owners don't raise payroll in an attempt to put on a good face, oh boy are we in ****ing trouble.
  10. Absolutely not. Losing Correa's salary just gives the Pohlads an excuse to further lower payroll. Correa makes around $30m next season. Someone tell me with a straight face that if the Pohlads somehow get out of that $30m, they will reinvest $30m back into payroll.
  11. Well, you can't win 'em all... or, in the Twins' case, half of 'em.

  13. I'd love to read Falvey's thoughts on trade values. I'm 99% confident he's far more nuanced and interesting to read than Bowden.
  14. I never realized that, either. It makes sense, given how long he caught, but still.
  15. I'm not as familiar with the Mets, but the Yankees are in a bad way right now. I think they're bordering on desperate, especially in the outfield.
  16. I type up a lot of rumors for a lot of different teams. The Bowden speculation always gives me pause. They are often, in a word, "garbage".
  17. Jorge Castillo of ESPN has written that both New York teams are interested in acquiring Twins outfielder Harrison Bader, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after position players this deadline. In 93 games for the Twins, the 31-year-old right-hander is batting .254/.337/.439 with 12 homers and a .776 OPS. FanGraphs has him at a .340 weighted on-base average and a 118 wRC+, while his 2.0 wins above replacement rank among the top 30 major-league outfielders. Statcast credits Bader with +5 Outs Above Average, underscoring the defense that has defined his career. He has logged innings in left, center, and right this season. The Yankees are monitoring Bader closely as they seek a right-handed bat to stabilize their outfield after placing Aaron Judge on the injured list with a flexor strain on July 27. Manager Aaron Boone has patched together playing time for Trent Grisham and Oswaldo Cabrera. Still, the club lacks a true center fielder. Across town, Mets president David Stearns is evaluating upgrades in the same spot. FanGraphs Depth Charts list Tyrone Taylor, Starling Marte, and prospect Jett Williams as the current center-field options, a trio that has combined for modest production. Bader is owed roughly $2 million for the remainder of a one-year, $6.25 million contract that carries only a mutual option for 2026. View full rumor

  19. I think there's decreasing returns with control over 1.5 years. If the Twins trade either reliever, I think they'll get some really nice pieces. I don't think it will be two top 100 guys, with one of them in the top 50.
  20. That's the Twins asking price, I don't think it's the general consensus. I think asking for two top-100 prospects for any reliever is not going to get any bites. Well, maybe you can get two 80+ guys, but not the top half of the top 100.
  21. The Twins can sign pretty much any free agent they want with one simple trick: offer them the most money.
  22. What do Bader, Castro, Paddack, and Coulombe have to do with the 2026 season? None of them are under contract.
