A big reason I don't have a problem with the Boston Sox is because I was close friends with diehard Bostonian brothers (Southies, even) from 2001-2005 or so. We all watched the terrible meltdown in 2003, and the momentous comeback in 2004 together. It was pretty fun.
I've never had a problem with the Red Sox. Yeah, Boston fans are obnoxious, but they're also really passionate about the team. Yankees fans, on the other hand...
Just a couple of months old. I lived in San Diego for eight years, including high school, and the 98 team is what got me back into baseball. I've wanted a Padres site for years, and finally decided to just start one cold.
Oh FFS. Money was only part of the Twins’ problems over the past three years. Gross mismanagement and utter, complete tone deafness was an even bigger problem.
Huzzah to tone deaf, bad businesspeople leading this franchise into its next (but really the same) era.
There are so many solutions. A cap and floor, what you presented here, or even just starting arbitration in year two of a player's career. Lots of ways to make baseball better.
I'm also not a fan of many of the deals (some were fine), but now that they're here, they should be handled appropriately so I'll be patient and see what comes of it.
I think they probably could start in Minnesota, but the Twins targeted them for a reason, and I suspect they're working on new pitches, new grips, pitch selection, or all of the above.
Really, you think Rocco Baldelli wants Mickey Gasper on this roster? Or that he chooses the roster?
C'mon, I get you all hate Rocco, but he doesn't control the franchise.
Hi Melissa, for a couple of days we had a persistent video issue, but I think it should be resolved now. Do you still see the video in the bottom right hand side of the screen when you scroll?
Oh yeah, you can skip that category screen if you click add new topic in any of the forums, then the system assumes you're starting the thread in the forum you're currently occupying.
It's entirely valid to look at trades beyond the impact they have on the baseball diamond. Varland is from St Paul and he grew up a Twins fan. Trading him away when he has so many years of control left sucks.
I disagree with Varland getting the same grade as Stewart. While I personally dislike the Varland move more, it's mostly for non-baseball reasons. Rojas is a good get. Maybe a C grade on that one?
Whereas the Stewart return is utter garbage.
