Really solid offensive showing tonight. 3 hits and gifted two errors and still couldn't score.

A lot of discussion today about the importance of developing guys over the course of the rest of the year. Pinch hitting for Berrios was a wasted opportunity to help Berrios develop. He had a shot at a complete game.

That's a pretty absurd statement when you're still trying to win games.

You're severely over-analyzing it. You still manage within each game to win. You don't let the pitcher hit when you're behind with 6 outs left.

You can thank the archaic NL refusing to adopt the DH. Pitchers shouldn't be hitting in 2017, period. and everyone is trying to save their job, not just Paul. Edited August 2, 2017 by Aggies7

I'd say Molitor's chances of managing in 2018 are 25% at best. Given that, I'd rather give Dougie M or Mauer (Jake) a 2-month try out.

If only there were things we could do to improve the offense. Like DL Polanco and get Vargas back.  And DA Giminez and get Garver up. And try someone else in the lead-off spot. But alas, nothing can be done.

Most likely. But giving one of them a trial makes more sense than Molitor managing out the string. They intended to bring someone in from outside in 1986 too. They changed their mind. 

Yep. Taking Berrios out was definitely a brilliant decision. Grossmann struck out. Busenitz gave up 2 runs. Odds are Berrios does neither of those things.

Given that a bunch of Twins went to play Pebble Beach before going to Oakland, you'd think they were ready to get the 9-irons out to hit these low pitches instead of taking them.
