No. The risk to their team is too high. Each individual is too hard to replace.

Does a player forfeit MLB salary if they experience a career ending, or career altering, or long-term injury?

I would rather see the World Baseball Classic happen during the AFL Winter Leagues, at the end of the season. Possibly even during the playoffs.
