DAM DC Twins Fans Provisional Member Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I finally made it to Target Field last weekend...not living in Twin Cities. I counted up--I have now been to 23 stadiums (stadia). Given my age and the fact I have been going to MLB games for over 50 years...many of the ones I have gone to are gone. My top 10: Ebbets Field (cause it was the first and the BROOKLYN Dodgers were then my team).Citizen's Bank (IMHO the best of the new stadiums)Kaufman (I love the fountains and the whole atmosphere)Shea (maybe cause I could walk there from my home and see a double header almost any Sunday in the early 70s)HHH MetroDome (maybe cause I saw a walkoff Twins win in the 13th inning--I know all the issues with the Dome--but I miss it).Memorial Stadium in Balmer (another stadium I really miss--along with the Earl watching Tippy Martinez and Stanhouse nervously get thru the late innings)Old Yankee Stadium for the historyFenway for the historyCamden Yards--would be higher but too easy to hit HRsTarget Field--slight edge over Nats Stadium The bottom 3 are easy--Connie Mack--by the time I got there in the late 60s, it was a dump. Comiskey (now US Cellular) just ugly; Polo Grounds--absolutely weird dimensions. Also true for RFK Stadium here in DC.
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Well, I just returned from a 4th of July mid-week trip to Kauffman and I think it gets better every time I go there. The quote I said to my buddies that went with: "This place just feels like home. Not the sh1tty home you actually live in, but what you want your home to be." Then again a dozen beers later I also said, "I'd rather watch Bruce Chen pitch than Sandy Koufax in his prime."
Kyle DeBarge Wichita Wind Surge - AA 2B/CF On Sunday, DeBarge went 3-for-3 with a walk and a double. It was his second multi-hit game in his past three games. Explore Kyle DeBarge News >
