DJL44 Verified Member Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 MLB Trade Rumors mentioned that the Dodgers may be looking for more international bonus money so they can ensure they have the top bid for Roki Sasaki. The Twins have one of the largest allocations of international bonus money. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/11/npbs-chiba-lotte-marines-to-post-roki-sasaki-for-mlb-clubs.html Quote MLB classifies players who sign out of a foreign league before they turn 25 as amateurs. Those players can only sign a minor league contract and are subject to a hard-capped bonus limit. It would be interesting if the Twins traded away all of their bonus money to the Dodgers for prospects in the Dodger system. The Twins are looking for ways to cut costs and this could reduce expenses by $7M while adding older, better scouted talent from within the Dodgers farm system.
