And I am pretty certain no one here likes losing. But I do question the levels of rabidity in game threads that border on or are over the line of disrespect. No one playing this game or coaching it or managing it lack heart or feel for the game. Very few people get to where they do and it takes a lot of dedication, work and heart for the game. Seems to me a lot of accusations take place questioning players’ dedication because they don’t respond to losing just like you do. When someone in this thread said Rocco doesn’t stand up to the umps, another poster showed that yes, actually he does. But there is no capitulation because of how some feel about him as a manager. I do, however, find the posts that suggest we’ve already lost the game in the first innings of play a bit over the top. By my calculations it was a close game, but already there were claims of loss and season loss. If you post the doom and gloom frustrations, my equal is to roll my eyes at you. What you call passion, I term irrational emotional reaction. You fan your way, I fan mine. Well that's just it, right? You fan your way. Others fan their way. Why do you feel the need to call folks out? Some of the things you're talking about it, I haven't posted in that way and frankly, I don't see anyone else doing it either. Who is questioning players' dedication? Where's the disrespect? There can be criticism without it being disrespectful or questioning someone's dedication. I've always been of the mindset that if you don't like content, scrolling is your friend. So long as it's not personal or targeting individual posters, I think this should be a safe space to express opinions without people looking over their shoulder with a tsk, tsk every time there's a different opinion. Twins_Fan_in_NJ Verified Member Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Bottom line for me. I love the Twins. I enjoy this place. I vent and complain about the Twins. I cheer when they win. I don't attack posters that a different opinion although I have been attacked. I don't disrespect players or even Rocco. I criticize. There's a tangible difference. If complaining and critiquing aren't allowed, then I'll avoid the game day threads for the time being. Tlaker 1
Cave Bear Verified Member Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I think the guy we should be praising is Ober. 6 innings of 1 run ball and kept us in the game. Royce did spectacular but without Ober keeping us there this would have been a far different outcome. Twins_Fan_in_NJ, C-Gangster, Craig Arko and 1 other 4

There's always room for venting, but when it completely overtakes everything else, what are we really doing here? This is the same thing I do. Here are some examples of the same complaints and doomsday whining that happens over and over again; The game is over in the 4th inning, this is not a playoff team, Baldelli does not have the fire to motivate this team, the coaches do not teach fundamentals, they can't beat the best teams and are not a true contender, Buxton and Correa are overpaid, always injured and the front office was too incompetent to see what other teams saw, etc. It goes on and on. There are good counterpoints to these complaints, but when the same complaints are made over and over it wears down intelligent discussion and relegates what is a good site to the cesspool of places like the Strib and Twitter. When you look at the game threads now, all the good, witty posters have been driven out and the creativity is gone. Sad. lecroy24fan, C-Gangster and Craig Arko 3
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 So you look out in the yard and notice there’s a skunk there. What do you do? Directly confronting the skunk does not usually end well. Tossing food out for the skunk to chase elsewhere isn’t so good either, as the skunk learns to associate your yard with food and comes back later to see if the nice human will give it more. Nope, the thing to do is grab the dog, shut the doors and windows, and outlast the skunk, It will eventually get bored and move on to annoy somebody else. insagt1 Verified Member Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 brought back a memory. Many years ago when my girls were young we went to the Renaissance Fair in Sterling, NY. Got there early but the girls needed a restroom real bad. So we asked the folks at the gate if we could please go in just to use the bathroom and come right back out. They said OK. So while my wife was in with the girls, some cast members were also in the bathroom and didnt expect anyone else to be in there. They were bantering back and forth and then one of them said, 'well this is Labor Day. Thankfully only one more day of this $hit.' Then they looked up at saw 3 sets of eyes. Suffice to say, they were mortified. My girls shrugged it off and soon it was onward to get a big turkey leg to munch on and watch the wench get dunked in the pond. No we never mentioned the incident but we laugh about it to this day. Last night we watched 'Stripes' on one of the movie channels. Never can see that flick enough times. but one of our favorite lines is when Hulka (the big toe) looks at 'Psycho' and says, 'Lighten up Francis'. Sometimes in the heat of a pennant race, we all need to do a little of that...for our own sanity! Meantime...go Twins (and for me its also Go O's and go Red Wings) An unholy trinity of teams that drive me nuts for 6 months!!🙃 Have a great day guys! Craig Arko 1

Can't I silently disagree with things that happen in a game while being annoyed by repetitive bellyaching, lol? IT'S BORING that's why I push back not due to homerism.
