Louie Varland pitched great again.

The offense is just bewildering.

There is no offense.  They cant hit.  One third of a season is not a small sample size.

The good news is,  we're straddling the .500 mark, despite playing some poor baseball.  At anytime we can get hot and start piecing things together.  At least we don't have a games behind hole to dig ourselves out of.  If we play this poorly now and still lead the decision, just think what we can do, when these young guys gain experience and some of the injured guys get back.  As much as I am frustrated with their performance, I have to believe we can turn things around, especially playing in the AL Central.

That’s definitely a “half full” take. I hope you’re right. My fear is that by the time the hitting decides to show up, this run of excellent starting pitching will dry up.

Yeah I don't hate the bounce, you pretty much guarantee every ball is catchable. If you misfire high it's a short hop or knee high instead of in right field and and a long hop is no harder than a throw across chest high.

So bouncing a baseball on grass or dirt..... on grass or dirt that gives bad hops to batted balls randomly..... is pretty much gauranteed to make the ball catchable? Instead of actually practicing your professional throwing ability to make a true and strong throw you practice hopping it on the soft turf or dirt instead? OK. Well, I'm glad that he actually threw it on the fly for both of the impressive double plays today. And it takes longer with the added friction and drag if bounced, too. Preferred bouncing is still a tough sell for me.
