Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 The Minnesota Twins bullpen is already in a much better spot than it was at this time a year ago, but one returning reliever has the potential to push the pen to an elite level. Jorge Alcala established himself late in 2021 but missed nearly all of last season. He’s back on the mound and having a strong spring training so far. Here is a look at a couple of highlights, his stats and some of the metrics/velocity/Baseball Savant data. View full video
Major League Ready Verified Member Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I thought he was looking good before he got hurt and ready to be in high leverage situations. I might be a little too optimistic about him but he has had plenty of time to come back from this injury. I am on the Jorge Alcala bandwagon. As tom stated, he does not need to be THE guy but it would be huge if he can be a guy they can trust.
JD-TWINS Verified Member Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Needed Alcala or Megill to step forward this spring. After 2 weeks Alcala looks stable and better. His stuff is better than Jax - just a matter of having the health & mental toughness. If right, he’s an 8th inning shutdown type of guy. Jax - Moran - Alcala - Thielbar - Duran ……..these guys can get us through 7th, 8th, & 9th for W’s! Dobnack or Winder or Sands as Long guy. Other 2 guys???? Nobody’s got a perfect Pen. Hoping for Pagan & López to be usable…..if they start slow, we need to shift guys from AAA in a hurry. SWR potentially in relief - potentially Balazovic in relief as well.
