RyeGuy Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 bit of a newbie here but with Morneau moving to more of a DH role than originally thought, what if any is the role Butera would play in the lineup? Is it worth it to keep him as a 3rd catcher?
Highabove Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I find it hard to believe that a young Man who has the Athletic ability to be a Major League Catcher, cannot do better at the Plate. Does he work on his hitting in the off Season? Anything less then five days a week with a Hitting Instructor would be disappointing. It comes down to( how bad do you want it?). Hopefully he does.

Billy Bremner Provisional Member Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Yes, all of MLB is anxiously awaiting whether Butera will make the team again. The Tigers reportedly are prepared to jettison Justin Verlander if the Twins exercise an unfair advantage by keeping Butera on their MLB roster.
John Bonnes Site Manager Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 On this question, I still have no idea what they'll do. I notice Butera started yesterday, so he's still in the mix. The Rivas injury further complicates things. Of all the options for that 25th spot, I still think Butera is the most likely, but it's still less than 50/50 he makes it.

If there are more than two options, then the most likely guy to make it doesn't necessarily need to have a better than 50% chance to win. See? :-)

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 If they had wanted a 3rd catcher I'd rather they had gone with Towles. What happens to him? To Rochester?
RyeGuy Provisional Member Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Towles got sent down today
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Towles got sent down todayIf a catcher is needed I'd rather see him get called up, then, than Butera.
