ashbury Verified Member Posted July 28, 2022 Posted July 28, 2022 In today's MLB Trade Rumors chat, Anthony Franco had this question and answer sequence: If you had to guess, who is the most likely player to end up in a twins uniform by next week? "Pedro Severino as the boring answer" He went on to mention Mahle, but let's talk about catching. In one table I saw posted last year, Severino ranked poorest in the majors at preventing wild pitches and passed balls; or maybe it was all the Oriole pitchers' fault when he was playing for them? Seems to have an okay bat for a catcher but keep in mind that backup catchers aren't usually actual DH-worthy studs at the plate or anything, though he's served that role as a starter 19 times in his MLB career Also he missed the first 80 games of 2022 due to a PED suspension. Is he worth giving anything to the Brewers? In related news today, incumbent backup catcher Caleb Hamilton struck out twice in two plate appearances.
