I'm not Glunn (duh!) but do "neutrally-based questions" normally use the words inane, time-and-space-wasting, and threadjacking? And don't questions usually end with a question mark?

 

What a thread-jackingly inane waste of both time, and space.

Neutrally-based question, Glunn. Would you agree or disagree that there is a level of rudeness and disrespect when someone begins an inane attack with embedded personal insults, and then inanely demands sidetracking, time-and-space-wasting and threadjacking links to details and simply can't accept the goodwill of the opposing presenter's premise to continue the friendly discussion- for friendly discussion's sake?- in particular when it is information that was widely disseminated and discussed just a short while ago.

 

I just want to read about baseball. I suppose that some drama is inevitable, and there is some subjectivity in moderating the forums, but this thread was hijacked by bickering. If you go back and read the entire thread, I hope that you will agree that there was a lot of psychodrama that detracted from the baseball discussion.

 

I am not placing all the blame here on any one person. And I am holding myself to blame for not intervening sooner and/or closing the thread.

 

If someone misrepresents your position, then please give them the benefit of the doubt. People often remember things differently. If you want to prove that they are in error, then please politely and respectfully present your evidence. If you do it that way, the chances of them changing their perception will be greater, and everyone will see that you are following the spirit of the TD policy, which is to promote friendly, respectful debate -- "with all due respect, I believe that you are incorrect because [arguments/evidence go here]".

 

Also, if you feel that someone is being rude, then send them a private message or report their post to the moderators -- don't participate ina feud that is both annoying and boring to those of us who are here to talk about baseball. It would be no fun having to watch ten minutes of a boring soap opera to get to a half inning of baseball and the TD policy is designed to minimize drama and maximize baseball discussion.

 

We are finding that more than 95% of the issues have been generated by a very small percentage of members. We are also finding that once people appreciate the intent of the policy, almost all of them are able and willing to change. Please give this some genuine consideration from the perspective of the vast majority of members who want baseball, not bickering.
