Just tried to compare minor league stats for Florimon and Escobar, and my goodness they are similar. Escobar's two years younger, Florimon's been at bit better at taking a walk, but otherwise they seem virtually identical with the bat and on the bases.

In all seriousness, the ball must really be dead in the air. That homer didn't clear by much and was hit on the screws.

I love the first week of baseball... Free MLB extra innings... Between innings I can turn over to any game and I just had a question/thought.

He's done well enough.

 

As odd as it is to say, he doesn't look as good as Correia did yesterday.

 

It's that low expectation thing of mine... All I want is for our starters to keep us in the game.

Pelfrey has come back from Tommy John surgery in just less than 11 months, is hitting 92-93 on his sinker, getting ground balls, and pretty much showing great control. No strikeouts, but did we expect any? I'd say that "sharp" is an apt definition.

Before long Gardy will probably move Hicks down in the order til he catches on. Swap spots with 2nd base probably.

 

Fine by me to put Hicks in the 9 hole if his woes continue -- but only as long as Carroll is starting a batting #1.

Thanks. It also appears from what I can see that he is not getting good defense -- 2 errors and a passed ball.
